Get something that is clip fed for the simple fact a .22 for farm use needs to be quickly loaded. Pop in a loaded clip shoot as opposed to tube fed .22's.

I own a Marlin model 60 Staninless Model that is tube fed.A tube fed rifle is fine for the range or if you keep one loaded 24/7.

Don't know if these are available any more but.

#1 = french make with clip firing from open bolt. [ guevara??? Sp. ]

#2 = Winchester model 66 with clip. Unfortunately mine has worn out as it misfires and doesn't always eject the spent casing.

Present day = Ruger 10/22 would be my choice.

I also have a Cooy bolt action tube fed that has a worn out bolt. Misfires and doesn't always eject case.

Ruger 10/22 is probably the most popular 22 semi-auto there is. It also has the largest amount of aftermarket goodies available for it.

Marlin 39-A. Find a used one from the 60's or early 70's. Best utility .22 ever made.

Ruger 10-22 here as well, kind hard to beat it.
I've also got a Marlin model 60 which is a piece of junk and honestly it is cheaper to buy a new one than deal with fixing it. My gunsmith has a sign in his shop that he does not work on Marlin model 60's.

Not a semi but I have and like my browning BL-22 lever action (nice gold trigger). Looks and handles nice. I have been looking at the Henry rifles... made in NY CITY.

Another 10/22, it is 31 almost 32 years old, it has had thousands and thousands of rounds through it and it keeps working. Back in H.S. my friends and I would go up to the mountains quite often and shoot a brick (500 rounds) each through our .22's.

Another vote for the 10/22. Have had one for years and it never failed to shoot.

But I don't have it anymore. I had it converted to 17M2 and now I guess it's a 10/17?

Still shoots nice though.
