What about your fuel source? Same gas can? Same Gas Station? How much ethynal?

Went and bought fuel yesterday from Sheetz so I had brand new gas and (never thought of it) but did use a different can.

ok, here is a thought. It seem to idle ok, but soon as RPMs are added the issues start. I was reading it is a two stage hydro pump - could it be something with "stage two" when the RPMs go up?

Had to help the parents tonight so never got to pull the motor - looks like that will have to be put off to next weekend... Ugh
THANKS for the ideas and help

It could be something in the pump restricting the flow!--never did like 2-stage pumps, and I only had 1 for a couple days on my homemade splitter!--You guessed it!! --day 3 it had an old 17 gpm 1-stage pump off an old combine installed in place of 2- stage!! LOL!!!! thanks; sonny580

Water in the gas. Only takes a drop sitting on the bottom of the well where the main jet sucks from. The drop sits close below the jet and only sucks up into the jet at high throttle. If your new engine has a carb with a plate choke you can probably suck the water on through by revving the engine high and closing the choke momentarily. If the situation improves thats it.

... Might want to get a Mr Funnel for the future. Filters out debris and water.

Pulled the motor off and it seems to run fine - smooth and without any issues.
This is leading me towards the something else, maybe the pump, is the problem?
The pump does turn easily by hand but of course that is at a very very very low RPM.
I have a new filter and just replaced it, the hydro oil appears clean.
I will remount the engine and give it another run in a little bit.

The 2 stage pumps are kinda complicated and if 1 part doesn't shift right or complete they won't work. Could even be a small sliver from manufacturing process jammed in an internal valve. thanks; sonny580

Changed the oil.
Changed the filter
Pulled all the lines off and flushed them.

Seems to run good now without issue?
The original oil had a little milkiness (had less then 8 hrs use total) to it and I am not sure what the assembler used as ISO46 was recommend and the old oil appeared different.

Nice buddy, so you got it fixed? It was the hydro system? Can you take back that engine you bought?

Yep - fixed and running! Thanks.
Not really sure what it was but flushing the hydro system and new fluid and filters did the trick.
Thinking I will just clean up and get the "old" motor running good and hang on to it at this point. Have a few projects in mind down the road where it maybe handy...

Yeah....I tend to hang on to stuff like that as well...I have 4 hour meters I have purchased recently in my quest to add an hour meter to my stump grinder....I will just keep them...never know when you might need them and they are already paid for.
