2210 or 4110

Yes $14,000 is high. I got my 4115 for $15,750 with 410 loader. $13,000 for the tractor, $2,750 for the loader.
I had started out looking at the 2210 because I wanted a tractor that I could also use as my primary mower and I wanted something lighter and more agile.

But when I checked out the 2210 I found there were limitations that I couldn't live with. I wanted a true cat-1 3 point with position control. That moved me up to the small frame forty ten series.

I ended up going with the 4115 because it was had a longer wheelbase so it could fit the 72" mid mount mower. Also, it was the smallest tractor that was direct injected. Of course the additional horsepower is nice.

I have no regrets. The 4115 is very capable and agile. I think the 4110 would do very well also.

For my part I recommend the small frame forty ten series.

the price is with the loader? What do you think about the 4010 is it under power?

A significant difference of the 4000 series over the 2210 is independent brakes. I have a John Deere 655 and two John Deere 322's. I looked at the 2210 when it was announced and was impressed, but need independent brakes for hillside mowing. Big tractor feature you may not need. The 4000 series is the 'Big Brother' replacement for the 655. HP is greater. 3 pt lift capacity, turning radius, ground clearance, etc, do not exceed the 655. I am still waiting for the right machine,
New Holland's TZ24DA in my opinion is heavier built than the 2210. Ergonomics go to the 2210. New Holland's TC24 more aligns with the John Deere series 4000.
I have not seen in any posts your functional requirements, or desired usages. Money appears to be the dominant concern.
Synopsis: 2210 and TZ24DA are garden tractors on steroids with no independent brakes among other things. TC24 and Deere 4000 series are entry level big tractor featured units.

Reading from the sales invoice: The tractor was $13,000 and the loader was $2,750. The tractor price was undoubtably lowered more due to the fact that the loader was involved. How much? I'm not sure.

Novice hit on another difference, independent brakes. That was another factor. Growing up on a farm I had the opportunity to operate 2 wheel drive tractors without differential lock. On these tractors it was essential to have independent brakes to contol traction. With row crop tactors the tricycle style front wheels could be turned 90 degrees left or right and with independent brakes you could literally turn on a wheel, which sometimes came in handy.

However, in use I find I rarely use the independent brakes on my 4115. If I am in a limited traction situation I push down on the differential lock first to get out of trouble. Also, four wheel drive comes in handy in limited traction situations.

Since the wheels on any of these tractors cannot turn 90 degrees either way, the ability of independent brakes to tighten the turning radius is limited. It helps, but not a whole lot. You certanly cannot turn on a wheel without being very hard on the tractor. I find that four wheel drive helps to pull the front end around about as much (on slippery surfaces).

As far as the 4010 goes, according to the specifications, it is not only a less powerfull, but also it is lighter, has less hydraulic capacity and three point hitch lifting capacity. I think I would still select it over the 2210 because of it's larger overall size. But I would have to consider the usage and my need for raw power.

Given that I saved about $2000 from the cost of a 4110, after a year, I still don't regret my decision to get a 4010. Who wouldn't want more HP or torque but it wasn't worth two grand to me. Maybe if my application involved brush hogging or if the cost difference was about half of what it is, I would have went for the 4110.

The larger diameter tires on the 4x10's will give you much better traction then the 2210 on slopes, uneven ground, snow or when digging into a mound of dirt with the loader. By finessing the curl, I can get a full bucket bite of dirt with the loader. Maybe it would be a little easier/faster with more powerful hydraulics but since this is a small part of what I use my CUT for, I can live with it.

I'm sure the 2210 would handle my mowing chores just fine but I chose the 4010 to get a more capable FEL.

Dont under estimate the 210 loader on the 2210. With weight box and a 54 inch bucket I can scoop a full load of dirt also, no problem. The 2210 fits my smaller needs perfect. anything bigger would just be too big,too tall...It is like over kill of a garden tractor thing for me..I couldnt be happier with mine. SUre glad they came out with this model.

Taller tires would make it ride better for sure..

Where did you get the 54" bucket? I think what you have is a 53". Deere does not make a 54" bucket for the 210 loader. Check it out.

I never measured it, but the invoice says 54 inch. 53-54 doesnt really matter to me. They call it a 54 inch unit. My front blade is called a 54 inch and the mower deck is also.

The so called 54 inch bucket was a option.

THis has been a very helpful discussion to follow. I priced a 2210 yesterday at two dealers in Central Wisconsin. Tractor with FEL came to $11,163 and $11,500 at each place. It sounds competitive to other prices listed here. Both are "pre" $300 discount for the loader. One includes a cost for a DSV (Dual Selector Valve) the other does not. Do I need that or is it a standard item? I costed out a 54" mower and single stage blower as well. Total final costs were $14,711 and $15,050 w/o tax.
