<font color="green">Anyone experiencing their 2210 running hot?

This weekend was the first time my 2210 was used for mowing. Several times my son had to stop the tractor while mowing and let it cool down. The idiot light for high temperature was illuminating.

It was probably in the 70's for the outside temperature and he was mowing for more than two hours but less than three. I had previously used the tractor when it was a lot colder and not for mowing. I have the 62 inch deck and no more than 12 hours on the tractor right now.

I reviewed the troubleshooting part of the manual but haven't been able to take the time to check out everything it suggests.

Until then I was wondering if anyone else's 2210 was running hot. Will a diesel tractor run hotter when brand new?

I have mostly owned air-cooled gasolene powered tractors so diesel is new to me. With my old 18HP Sears lawn and garden tractor I could mow all afternoon when it was in the nineties and not be concerned about overheating although maybe I should have.

Thanks,

Check the air intake screen in front of the radiator if you haven't done that already. It should be running cool and smooth as long as it is getting air flow through the cooling fins. The Yanmar shouln't be running hot. I have mowed twice in warm weather and it doesn't seem to run hot at all. Sounds like there may be something else going on, e.g. a thermostat if the intake screen is clear. Check your coolant tank and call your dealer. Let us know....

Your post made me think of something. When I was looking at the 2210 at the dealer, I noticed a bag of paperwork sitting in front of the radiator under the hood. My wife even asked about taking it out before I ran it outside.

I know it sounds stupid, but sometimes the simplest things are overlooked.

Anyway, please let us know if you find the cause. This is of concern to me as I'm expecting delivery this week.

I agree with Big Pete, you should not be experiencing any overheating. A new motor will run a few degrees warmer until it breaks in, but this should go away mostly after a few hours and completely after 20 or 30. Did you check the radiator fluid level. Also if you can find the thermostat, feel the output side as the engine warms up - it should be cold at first then start to warm up quickly as the t-stat opens. If not the stat is sticking.

I have not had a chance to mow with mine yet, grass here in West MI is still brown, but now that temps are up I should be mowing soon. I hope I don't run into this problem, too.

Make sure you tell the dealer, they need to address!

Another thought. While you're checking the rad. screen, coolant level & hose. Verify that the fan is spinning. Sometimes it is the simplest things.

Good luck
