I bought a 2210DB last spring. Drove 6 hours to get it and it was known at the time that the head gasket was leaking compression into the water jacket. Well I paid a price assuming it would need a new head. As it turned out I was able to re-torque the head and it behaved itself for the summer. But I wanted to fix it permanently over the winter so I pulled the head and had it gone over at a machine shop. It was about 2 and a half thousandths out of flat so he milled it flat and did a valve job and put new valve seals in. I honed the cylinder liners to put a fresh crosshatch in (the bores were well within wear limits). Put new rings and rod bearings and small end bushings in. Put on a new water pump since the original one was getting sloppy and noisy. I also rebuilt the front axle since that had obviously had water in it at one time which didn稚 do the bearings inside any good. Because the knuckles were so loose the seals had started to leak quite a bit. Anyway it痴 all back together now and ready for when spring finally gets up this far north. The power shift and rear end worked perfectly so all I did there was to change the fluid. Glad I had this project to work on here especially lately with the lockdown.

What a nice post with great pictures. Looks like you have that 2210DB ready for a lifetime of service. Looks like now you should be a good adviser on front end rebuilds.:thumbsup:

Thanks. It was a good winter project and now I should be good to go. Probably went further than I needed to on the engine but I wanted to have a look in there while I had the head off getting taken care of. The front axle definitely needed attention. Fortunately none of the internal gears were damaged and I got away with new bearings, seals and new spindle shafts. Very thankful that stuff is all available from Hoye痴. More than happy to help if I can if others find themselves in the same situation. Now I just need some brush to mow:) Looking forward to giving it a good workout.

Yes did really well on the purchase price when I bought the tractor assuming it needed a new head etc. in all honesty the engine really just needed a new head gasket which the seller provided me. But winters are long up here so I had plenty of time to really give it a once over. As for the front axle I knew it was loose and leaky when I bought it but it wasn’t making any alarming noises so I figured new bearings and seals would cure those issues and they did. Happy to answer any questions you might have if you get into yours. I did more than it really needed but I figured if I did it all now I wouldn’t be chasing small issues forever.
