2305 62" MMM noise

I replaced the blades. I run the PTO for a few seconds at low RPM and the blades start hitting. Could the spindle be bent?

RVTECH, I can unfortunately tell you exactly what the problem is with your 62C deck. I hit a short stump and actually bent the deck surface where the spindles mount and it allowed the blade tips to contact each other. The tractor only had 4 hours on it at the time so I was really sorry that I had wrecked my new toy(tool). Rather than replace the deck, I took it off and tore it down, and secured in a completely level fashion. I made up a spanner bar and machined a dummy spindle to bolt to the damaged flanges for pulling and measuring purposes. Several hours later, I had a true and level deck and after reassembly with new blades tried it out. It mows as good as new with no noise or uneven cutting. I can lend you the plug I made if you decide to try the same deal. Take care!

Ziggy, b1877 has the blade hitting problem. My problem is the driveshaft hitting the brake linkage rod.

I suspect everyone that has a 2305 with a 62c MMM has the same problem I do. Its a matter of whether you mow uneven ground or unlevel areas. If the deck moves enough to the right, it's going to hit.

I have not hit or damaged my mower in any way. I have had this problem since new. Several others have responded with the same issue.

rvtech,

Any chance you could post a picture showing your issue and what to look for? I don't see anything close to hitting on mine but that probably means I am not looking at the right spot yet. There's not much room to look around down there.

I'll try to get a picture soon. I found the problem with the mower off. I have been searching for it all mowing season. I kept thinking it was the blades.

It's very hard to see with the mower installed. My mowers driveshaft has some very small marks near the output universal joint. The majority of damage is to the brake rod clevace. There is a gold colored rod under the floor that has a clevace connecting it to a larger cylinder, then rearward to the brake assembly. The clevace has adjustment for brake pedal play. The clevace on mine is partially worn through from contacting the mower driveshaft. I'm guessing it is about 25%-30% worn through. That is after approximately 60 hours of mowing.

I took a look at mine last night, I know just what you're talking about. It looks like the deck would need to move quite a bit to make the driveshaft hit the brake rod but I can see how it could happen.

Keep us posted.

I've heard the noise before and after reading this thread, found the same thing happening on my tractor. Has anyone submitted this complaint to JD?

rvtech, sorry to bust in on your thread with a misplaced reply. Perhaps the moderator can delete or move my post to the correct place. ( I have the correct answer, all I need now is the question.)
BTW, I too have experienced the interference between the shaft and lift clevis thingy; am trying to figure out what to do about it. Good luck!!

I am having a different issue with my 62c deck on my 2210. Ever since I hit a hidden rock with the blades, the center blade makes contact with the outside blades when the PTO is engaged. I have rotated the blades so the center one is 90 degrees from the outside blades, but once I engage the PTO, it happens once again. No matter how tight I get the blades, the center one always hits the outside blades. Has anyone had this issue or knows what is going on? I am out of idea
Thanks,
-Eric
Unless pully sizes are exactly the same the blades will eventually hit. if they are bent. Are the arbors that blades mounted to straight?

B1877 Check your spindles it sound like one is bend, the blades should never hit even when they run tip to tip.
