2305 available WITHOUT mid PTO?

Hi All,

I'm looking for a really good mower to upgrade to from my 318. I ran across a nice 2305 locally that the owner says does not have a mid pto and can't have a mower or blower because of it. I thought all 2305's had the mid pto standard and it was only when you got into the 3x20 and larger where it was an option. The only thing I can think of is he is looking at the dust cover and thinking it's a cap that is place instead of the PTO shaft and he doesn't know to just take it off and the shaft is there. I'm going to look at it Wednesday so I'll know for sure then.

Anyone ever hear of a 2305 mid pto delete or option?

Mid PTO is standard equipment. Offer him 2k less since it doesn't have it

No, they all have one. You can't buy a 2305 without one.

What serial number? Mid production 2305's had the pto beefed up.

Talked to the same guy... He bought the tractor that way from CT JD,dealer the owner hit the snow blower on a curb ad broke it off. The dealer took a credit for the tractor from JD and sold it at a fire sale price to the guy.

That still doesn't add up to me...unless someone replaced the shear pins with hardened bolts. Either way, thats not a machine I'd want to own!

What serial number? Mid production 2305's had the pto beefed up.

Can you please put up what info you have about the serial numbers & PTO problem you have?

I am supposed to be putting down a deposit on a 2305 today.

Probably a good buy. I think some have posted about the repair only costing, $4,000 to $6,000 dollars. Small change to spend on a really good buy.

I wonder if the seller will ever sell the thing.

Seems way high to me. I had Mid PTO + Power Beyond installed and a few other things looked at on same bill. Total Parts = $1,548, Labor = $1,609 plus tax. This was May 2011 on a 3320 CAB. Looking at the bill the Mid PTO kit was $600 + $160 for PTO Control Lever kit.

From posts on the 2305 PTO problems it requires case replacement along with the internal PTO gears. I don't think it is a simple remove middle PTO and replace with another.

I've owned a 2305. The PTO comes with the machine. However the mounting brackets for the MMM are optional/cost extra for them to be installed. Have to do the same with the brackets for a front mounted snow blower.
