After going back and forth on the 2305 vs 2320 debate, I've finally settled on the 2305. I may change my mind again if the dealer takes too long to get back to me with the quote.

I believe my dealer will come back with competitive costing on the 2305/200CX/62C, but I'm equally confident he will come back very high on the Woods BH6000 I am wanting.

Last remaining questions:

1) What is a reasonable price to expect on the Woods BH6000?

2) Is there another source (dealer), I could purchase through assuming I self install which somebody can recommend in case my dealer come back high?

3) I thought there was rumor JD would have a BH late spring/summer for the 2305, but I can find the post anymore. Even if true, is there any reason to believe a JD BH would be better or cheaper than Woods and hence worth waiting?

4) I'm leaning toward the 62C deck, but it still just looks big. I do have a 54" deck on my 335 today. Would resale be affected either way if I opted for the 54" deck?

5) I will attempt to trade a 335 w/54" deck (260 hours) in good shape and a virtually new front snowblade. Is $3000 - 3500 reasonable? Said another way, is a private sale premium <= $500 on something like this.

Thank for any input, I have learned a wealth of information from this site over the last 18 months.

62" is the way to go. In all my experience, when you try to resell this type of equipment given the dollar amount coupled with diesel, a guy/girl wants the biggest deck possible. In fact, if a 72" was available on my 2210 it would be there, because the machine can handle it and improve the uncut circle. 54" is much wider than the machine.

A backhoe is a chunk of money. If you are sure to have one, why go to the machine that Deere doesn't offer one? Is it the money, how much savings is there, really. Resale alone would suggest that the Deere hoe on the right machine would be the better choice.

I understand that the Woods is a nice hoe...

I could not swear to it but from checking what my dealer has on his lot from time to time it appears he sells a pretty good number of the Woods hoes in various sizes, including a 3-point hoe I saw mounted on a 3520 cab model. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

ADin,

I agree the 62C is the way to go. As mentioned by johndeere2210, it does reduce the uncut circle and makes edging much easier than with the 54" deck, but you will find that the biggest obstacle to maneuveribility with this tractor is the ROPS, and the 62C effectively pushes it further away from trees etc.

rvtech here has the Woods backhoe, he (and others) can give you their competitive numbers.

Rocky(Mike),

You just hit the central nerve of my agony. I think for all intents and purposes I want a 2320 (but of course it's STILL not here yet and I will likely miss most the working season before I could get one in my hands). I'm also still concerned a 2320 would ultimately be too large (31" tires on 4110 sure looks much bigger than the 26" on 2305). Also I don't want to look too out of place in the neighborhood and a little concerned over manueverability in the yard. I couldn't find any used 4110 deals good enough to make me bite yet. The 4010 has a couple of sticking points for me that take it off the list.

I need a loader soon, but could wait on backhoe if JD hoe was coming. Lastly, even I recognize the BH is more want than true need so sanity may yet win out.

One last option maybe someone could comment on. I could buy a used 110 hour (no warranty) 4110 + 60 deck for ~$9500. If I bought with the assumption I would add a loader and then either: a) keep, add BH later, b) trade in to downgrade to 2305 if I find it's too big, or c) trade tractor in whole or parts for 2320 later. How much would I expect to lose in the trades? A little $ premium for the option to cover all bases and real experience may be worth it.

Thanks in advance,

Try and stick with new, if you can.

I don't think a 2520 would be too big. a 3520 would probably look pretty odd.

Have you asked the dealer if you could demo one on your place?

I've got a 4110 for my ~3 acres and I don't care if it looks too big! I just feel it is a whole lot more tractor than the 2305/2210. I'm in the process of clearing land, preparing to build, and my only regrets are that I don't have a backhoe for it. (YET /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif!!) I have used the mower to mow my parent's lawn, and I find it to be very manuverable. Get what you really want if you can! Jason

Ok - I have green blood, so I would not be able to do this, but is a 54" deck and a BH are important to you why don't you look at the Kubota BX23. I'll probably get thrown out of this forum for suggesting this but hey. Like I said, I couldn't do it.

Well, a little setback today and more time to reconsider. The dealer appears be quite confortable with his current level of sales. Price on the tractor/loader/mower came back at 9% discount (their flat standard pricing). They wanted full list for the rear lights and brush guards, but they were going to install them for free. I'm pretty sure I could have gotten a second one at twice the price if I pushed them. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

In the end, I know it's only a few hundred dollars, but it is somewhat aggravating for them to even bother writing a quote and if they were just going to come back with exactly the same price as the tractors marked on the lot.

Trade-in also came in to what seems to still be low ($2500 for 335 w/54" mower + front blade all good condition and kept inside). I think the comment on JD's holding value only applies to private sales. I admit I don't have good handle on what true value would be on this, but I suspect they would resell for closer to $4000, so with this I will either sell privately or at least try to sell at trade-in cost to a friend.

I'm sold on the 62C deck. I knew it's what I should do, but still good to have all the moral support. Thanks for all the conviction.

Stretch - Regarding the Kubota BX23, it looks quite honestly very competitive to the 2305, but I still tend toward green overall because of a few subtle points, also the Bota dealer not being close doesn't help. I would probably switch dealers before I switch colors.

BTW - JasonL, I just noticed from your profile, your from Pendleton, IN. (we're practically neighbors; maybe 10-15 miles away).

I'm sure RalphVA will feel vindicated here as people don't often toss his 4010 a bone, but I gotta say I do like it's size. If only if they could have refreshed that model...
