2305 changing transmission oil/filter?

It is recommended in my service manual on my 2305 to change transmission fluid/filter and clean the suction screen @ 50 hours. I bought this machine last Dec. and I only have about 12 hours on it at this time. My question is two fold, at the rate I am going with hours should I change it before the 50 hours, and is this something simple I can do myself? Looking at the manual it looks pretty simple but, I know how these simple projects can turn in to nightmares.

EasyE--first let's assume (I hate to, but..) that it's the same as a 2210. It is pretty easy to do--do a search on 2210 changes. The biggest challenges are: 1)getting a big enough drain pan for all of the hydraulic fluid, and 2)getting the screen assembly off--many have found it easier to remove the 3 bolts at the top of the assembly (follow the metal tube up about 6 inches) and then remove the entire thing--this makes it easier to get the suction screen out as well.
BTW--if you plan to do oil change early--read up on the threads about break-in oil--lots of discussions on if required etc., you need to decide for yourself /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Agree with the above, the process is not too bad. As for time, I would encourage you to stick to the 50-hour period (that is a special break in oil designed for the initial break in period) and then from that point on, either do it yearly or every 200-hours. Personally, I like to do mine every 6-months after the break in period, somewhere in the heart of summer and just prior to winter for snow removal and both changes are around 50-hours of use.

Fish- I have no idea if it is the same as the 2210, this is my first tractor. Thanks for the input.
