Correct, the fill cap is next to the seat and you need to make sure all the attatchments are on the ground and the engine is off. The site window should be half to three quarters full in that position. I found out mine was low due to the fact the dealer didn't check it after adding the loader. I did find a brand at my local parts place that is referenced to JD.
