2305 or 2320?

   / 2305 or 2320? #21
I have a 2305 with a FEL, 54"Box Scraper,Draw Bar, and Middle Buster. I do not know what the ground is like there but in Maine it is tough and rocky. I'll put my 2 cents in and say if you want to use a BH I think a bigger tractor is better because you need the weight.

I love my tractor. I also have a 54"MMM that removes very easy. I have used the tractor in the woods, mow my lawn once a week, remove snow in the winter. I don't worry about the ROPS folding because my garage doors are 8' tall. The tractor is a lot stronger than I thought is was going to be. All I have is turf tires (I use chains in the winter). I had the tractor for about a year and there is 49hrs. on it. For me I went back and forth between the 2305 and 2320. I decided that the 2305 was the big bang for the buck. As far as the limited 3pt hitch, it has not caused me any hate and discontent yet. My wood lot is 20acers and I mess around a little, but if i were to do more a farmi winch would be the way to go.

That my 2cents, don't know if that will help or not, but go JOHN DEERE!
Good Luck!

Thank you all very much. I just became the proud owner of a 2305 FEL & BH. I'll get a MMM and BB soon but I figured I can look around for them a bit. I pick it up in a week or two and promise the obligatory pictures...

Thanks again,
Hunter

I have a JD 2305 with a belly mower and it does a great job. I previously had a JD 455 diesel mower but the 2305 is a much superior machine. My son mows yards (acreage tracts) and it is wonderful. However I would like to get some attachments but the real problem is the 2305 is a little small for everything. It is easier to find a 5 foot cutter than a 4 footer, as well as 3pt tillers. Everytime I want an attachment my dealer is always cationing me about not getting anything to big. If I had to do it over I would have gotten a little larger tractor. The bigger ones cost more but there is a reason why and I would spend the money knowing what I know now. I hope this helps.

Please let us know what you think.

I too am going through the same thoughts. I am in Vermont which is old sheep land that is now wooded mostly...but I am unsure if the 2305 or 2320 is for me. I will only have 5 acres, but I am looking to make some trails, and make more lawn / landscaping.

The fan worries me - but I am not one that is hard on his equipment.

There is a small sheet metal shroud under the fan that looks like it provides some protection. With the BH subframe (which provides a bit more coverage down there) I think you'd really have to run up on something decently serious and stick-like to have any problems.

That said, I think I will take up the guy on Ebay who seems to frequently sell filter and fan guards on ebay before I go running straight through the woods.

I too saw those shields. That might be 1st on my list too if I end up with the 2305.

Although the two tractors I've owned so far have been orange, they were the same size range you are thinking about. I had a Kubota BX22, and now have a Kubota B2620. For mostly yard work, the BX-2305 are great tools. When I started doing some work in my NH woods with the BX, I found that for me, it was out of it's element. It was somehow more tippy, and just lacked the clearance I needed. I miss my backhoe a lot sometimes, but I do like my larger tractor for "tractor" work. It is a bit more damaging to the yard with loaded R-4 tires, and the Kubota front end geometry tends to be harder on the yard than the JD set up. Still, in the woods, making trails, etc. there is no comparasion. One thing that I have found extremely useful in trail work is my set of forks, believe it, or not, and they are much better suited to the JD 2320 than the 2305. If lawn care, and general yard work with occassional loader work is going to be the heaviest use than the 2305 will be great.

I went through the same thing when looking to make my first purchase of a tractor and debated 2305 vs 2320, I went with the 2320 for a couple of reasons, the 2320 is a larger tractor with more clearance when doing work in the woods, I did not like the idea of a fan underneath when working in the woods and full cat. 1 hitch, I have had it for a week now and I am so glad I went with the 2320 after getting in the woods and working, I currently have a JD 2320 54D Deck 200CX loader, brush guard for the front, 5ft scrape blade on the rear and 4 foot bush hog, total price 17,900.00

is $13,000 a good price for a 2305 with 54" deck and 200cx loader?

make that $14000 for a new one! with loaded r4 tires, first engine and oil filter change, and a deluxe seat cover.
