2305 split trans case

So yesterday while postholing some holes in my yard for a fence with my deere 2305 I hit some clay with the digger and had some problems. The digger started to screw it self into the ground as usual and as usual I gave it a little on the 3pt hitch to go down, then I locked the 3pt and waited for it to equalize or stop pulling down and then the worst sound i've ever heard. The digger pulled sooo much my tractor split its rear hyd gearcase in two just in front of the 3pt lift arms and it bled all the fluid into the yard. I thought I could "fix it myself" but the gearcase part is $1810.00 Im going to try to put this on my homeowners and have my deere dealer fix it. Hope they will cover it, I dunno what else to do, and I dont think I ever want to dig a posthole with it again!

I would have thought the shear pin would have gone or something first?

A guy I work with had his rear end ripped apart on his L5030 right where the top link connects to the tractor. It cost him a whole lot more to get fixed than that.
It makes me worry about using the tractor too hard, but that's what they're built for so they shouldn't split apart like that!

Thats what I said, you should be able to pick that tractor up by the 3pt hitch! I dont know if there is a defect in the box or just the fact its made of cast aluminum. I dunno. Still waiting to hear from the insurance.
