Hi,

I could swear at some point I found some posts here that discussed tapping into a diagnostic port (like the OBD in a car) and getting engine temp data, but I can't find anything about it now.

Anyone know anything about that? If I can get the data, I can come up w/ something to display it.

Thanks!

After boiling my radiator this summer I'd certainly like to know that too! The idiot light is useless. I did see posts on mounting temp guages on the 2210/2305 tractors once in a more "conventional" way, plugging a sensor into one of the radiator tubes.

There is no computer on these tractors, so there is no place to get data like that. You would have to plumb in a regular temp gauge.

I wonder if an inexpensive 12V alarm (buzzer) could be wired in parallel with the idiot light?

I'd hate to make a hole in anything, esp since mine only has 21 hours so far. Maybe attach a thermal sensor to the thermostat housing or something?

One of the first mods on my 2210 when I bought it back in 2003 was the temp gauge. Still works fine..

Hey that's nice Labrat! Where did you get the gauge, and what did you do to get it plugged in on the sender side? Did you have to make and tap a hole?

The gauge and sender is a cyberdyne from jc whitney. There was a plug in the thermostat housing that I drilled and tapped for the sender. It was on the the opposite side of the sender for the dash temp light. But mine has the 3TNE74 and the 2305 has a 3TNV76 so I don't know if it has the same plug.

Nice design, labrat! I just finished copying your install. Works great!

If anyone else is contemplating this, it's not a tough project. Maybe 3-4 hours, assuming you have a drill press, Q drill, and the 1/8-27 NPT tap. If you're looking for that tap, I got one at mcmaster-carr.
