Well I am getting close to buying a JD cut, and it will either be a 2330 or2520. But let me give you my scenerio- Building on new property 6acres with option of another 3. All Flat, planning on Mowing installing fencing driveway work and snow removal and having a few farm type animals(4H). and tipical new house building chores. First question is can the 2320 due what the 2520 can due but just a few seconds slower? I think manly in loader work. I think I am going to buy an aftermarket 3pt. finish mower 72in. or would you get a JD unit which I beleve arer very high priced or am I mistaken? Does any one have a 2320 with a 72in cut how well does it work? and does anyone use a 5ft rough cut with their 2320? I think these are the man differences in the 2 machines? Not sure on that though. One other question is the is a price check on both units plain with a loader- 2320- $13600 2520-$15750 In northwest Ohio and both units wplain with 200cx loader. All input welcome! Thanks great site!

Look around in the deere threads - this subject has been covered in detail and should answer your questions in full

I'm so glad I bought my 2520 instead of the 2320, because the hydraulics are soooooo much faster, and the Direct-Injected motor is nothing like the motor i the 2320. I'm floored by how much more this motor has as far as torque.

BryanM, I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago. I don't know much about tractors since I am a first time user. I would suggest going with the 2520 if you plan to add the backhoe. I felt the difference of $2000 from a 2320 to a 2520 was minor considering both machines cost a decent chunk of cheese. With that said I felt it will be better to be overpowered instead of under powered.

I also felt long term resale value the 2520 would be better. Once again I don't know much about CUT's but the 2520 seemed to be worth the difference. I also heard from many dealers and this forum the 2320 seems to be lacking a bit of power for it's size. Many members have mentioned the 2320 seems to have problems in High gear. The 2520 also has much faster Hydraulics. Which I think will be huge feature over long term.

Either way it sounds like you will be getting a great machine. The new place you are building will be allot of fun. Do your research and I am sure the choice will become clear. Since you are already thinking about the 2520, I would say just do it. Get the 2520 and don't look back.

Enjoy and good luck :)

Another opinion from a newbie. There is no question that the 2520 is a more capable machine than the 2320. When I drove them side by side in the process of figuring out which one I wanted the 2520 had more capable hydraulics and was definitely beefier.

I went with the 2320 though because I liked the way the operators position was laid out (didn't seem as cramped for some reason and yes that is very subjective). I also picked the 2320 because it is quite a bit lighter and during the spring where we live it can get downright mucky, the 2320 doesn't damage the yard as much.

Bottom line: get on both of them and see what meets your needs better. They are both good machines and you will have fun... errrr find them very useful.

I went through all this before i bought mine. First off dont even look at the JD specs. there completely wrong. the 2520 is heavier than the specs say.
it will in fact lift quite a bit more than a 2320 on the loader. has duel pumps.
my service techs said thay proved it. by testing them. and the 3 point on 2320 will lift about 1100 pounds. though i have not tested my 2520 yet on this. service guys said thay had. and the 2520 3 point will lift much more. like 13 to 15 houndred pounds. its just a bigger heavier machine. and the engine design is different. the torqe curve is off the scale compared to the 2320. it was a no brainer for me. it is just more of a commercial machine.
as we always say. it depends on what you want to do with it. yes a 2320 is alot more powerful than a 2305. but people want to think the only difference in 2320 and 2520 is tire size. and thats just not true. there not even in the same class. i ran them both in dirt. and it was not hard at all for me to see witch was the more powerful machine. Best example is . Duc bought a 2320. kept it a few days. took it back and got a 2520. cause he wanted to do more work. that should say it all for you....:)
I know this is all just words. if you go run both in real world. you will understand what i am saying. 2520 runs like a big tractor.....;)
but i am only speaking from my experince. i am sure the debate will continue......;) everyone would like to think there machine is top notch.
in fact , I almost bought a 3320 before i got the 2520. I know its a more powerful machine. but i felt it was to big for my needs. and i figure there close enough in performance. i can do just as much with the 2520 as i could with the 3320 just not as fast. i have certain areas it would be hard to get a 3320 in. so i had to make a choice. I felt it was the right one for now. if that changes. thay still sale 3320's....:) thats why i bought all my attachments big enough to work on the 2520 or the 3320. so if i decide to go bigger. i dont haft to buy them again....Like looking into the future so to speak....:D

Welcome Bryan.... Do a search and you'll find A LOT of info in these machines already. You'll find more info at this point than you'll get in replies here. Good luck with your new machine... both are fabulous machines ;)

From the Deere site:

2320:
Pump Rated Output, gpm (L/min.) 5.6 (21.2)

Steering 2.2 (8.5)
Implement 3.4 (12.7)

2520
Pump Rated Output, gpm (L/min.) 10.5 (39.6)

Steering 5.5 (20.8)
Implement 5.0 (18.8)

The way they've presented it, it looks like both have two pumps (otherwise, why would they separate out the steering and implement parts of the capacity for the 2320 the same way they do for the 2520? Still, the 2320 may only have one, but it seems strange.

2520 has 2 pumps. one for steering and one dedicated for implements , 2320 has 1 pump for steering and implements...:)
watch the video and he tells you that. 2305 and 2320 have only one..;)

That's an interesting change from the 2520-2320 predecessors the 4115-4110 series. There the 4110 had two pumps like the 4115, I believe. I guess they beefed up the 4115 to get the 2350 and slimmed down the 4110 to get the 2320. Or maybe they just droped the 4110 version and the 2320 is more like the 4010. Very confusing all around when they change out the lineup.
