If professionally serviced at the dealer, and documented, and you never got the revision about greasing...pressure your dealer for help

On the phone with the dealer's service manager. He was not even aware of the issue. I had to give him the number of the bulletin. He is contacting the Deere reps to see if there is some kind of warranty assistance.

The latest bulletin came out in 2015. That bulletin says it has to be greased every 50 hours.

Total change in tune once the dealer had my money for parts. Dealer was zero help with John Deere. Pretty much washed his hands of the problem. Wouldn't even give me contact information for the Deere Rep to pursue. Has me thinking of trading in my tractor on a different brand. JD messed up with the manual, had two factory authorized dealers service the thing and no one every greased the drive shaft. Shaft blows because of it, and their response is essentially-"Out of warranty, sorry about your bad luck."

New Holland Dealer is very close to my house, and they (per the neighbors) have a very good service department.

I was bush-hogging with my J D 2320 and the drift shaft dropped off. I thought it was a big clump of grass but because of the shape I realized it was my drive shaft clothed in grass. The u-joints are in tack on both ends. I assume it sheared off the rear spline. Is this a big job or fairly simple ? I have some mechanical experience but know some things are easier when you have the lifts and jacks... thanks for your thoughts.

Depends on which drive shaft it is. The lower one going from the transmission to the front axle is not all that hard, but if it is the top one...... I would not attempt. Just greasing the Zerk fittings on the U-Joints for that top one is hard enough.

Just curious, how many hours do you have on your 2320? What type /size bush-hog do you have? What other attachments/implements do you have?

Not sure of the hours, ill have to look. Not that many. I believe I have a 60" rear bush hog. I did not realize it has 2 driveshafts, I was wondering why the real wheel and PTO was both working, but not the front wheels. Makes sense. It is the lower drive shaft so hopefully it will be easy... THANKS!

I have learned in life nothing is easy. :duh: It just looks that way until you start to fix something!

Here is a link showing a drawing of what lower or front drive shaft looks like. Maybe that front pin that is shown as part #5 and 6 broke?
