Thinking about buying a 2320 with the 62"mmm and loader to mow about 4.5 acres and several other jobs. Some questions, how much ground clearance is there with the deck raised up? About 2 acres will only get cut every 2 or 3 weeks, does this machine have enough power to cut tall grass or do you have to slow way down, and on a lawn that is cut every week what kind of speed can it cut and still give a nice finish? Can the mmm be left on and still use the 3pt and the rear pto? Thanks for any help.

I have a JD4115 (24 hp.engine, 20 hp. PTO) with 72" MMM.

The deck will lift only about 3" above from my preferred cut height. The deck cuts great at low range w/full ground speed or high range (easy on the forward pedal w/full rpms).

Taller grass cutting = slower ground speed and deflector chute raised.(Low range, only, w/full rpms) Hope this information helps. ;)

I have had a 2320 for just over a year in the same setup as you are looking at. The deck in the fully raised position has about 4.75 inches of clearance. I have cut grass about at a foot to a foot and a half tall before, and it will do it if you travel slower, but the deck needs to be is in the raised position to travel any speed. Not sure how long the grass grows in your area in 2-3 weeks. If you want to cut it the same height as the rest of the lawn, you may want to look at the 2520 or 2720 with a bit more power. As far as cutting the lawn, the mower tip speed is nearly as high as a ZTR, so it will give good results even at high rates of travel. I mow in second range most of the time, and travel as fast as I can stand over my bumpy yard. On the 2320, (2520 and 2720 don't have this) there is a mower height adjustment knob on the floorboard like the smaller Deere lawn tractors that allows you to easily adjust cut height and lock the mower in the raised position to free up the 3pt. The PTO has a selector lever that allows selection of front, rear, or both outputs simultaneous.

I can ditto everything Woody71 said. I mow about 6 acres with 3 of those acres getting cut 4 times a year. Never any problem except for the occasional discharge shoot getting clogged.

The 2320 is a great machine. You will love it.
