2011, JD 2520
The best price I have found for a new 2320 with fel, 54" deck and #46 backhoe is $23,500 then add sales tax of $1175 for a total of $24,675. If I want a 62" deck I beleive the total price would be $25,200. I know people are getting better prices, in other areas, but that's about $1,524 cheaper than another dealer quote. All these include the $1,000 JD promotion.

I have found a JD Dealer with a 2008, 2320 for under $20,000 (no sales tax) It's equipped with the 62" deck. Not sure if the 62" decks were drive over in 2008 (hope so). Not sure either of the bucket size on the Backhoe (a non issue). No doubt it must be out of warranty, It has approximately 100 hours so it would seem almost new.

So although I would like the new warranty I could save about $5,700.
Any thoughts? The 2520 has a nice $2,500 promotion, but it's too big for me. Got to draw the line somewhere.

I have seen a small picture of the tractor and it appears to be in good shape. It's located a good distance away (do I hear road trip). So for the moment i can't lay hands on. It is being portrayed as a nice machine. Waiting for additional photos to arrive via E-mail.

Buy the 2520. I have two 2305s, i love them to death, with the bigger tires on the 2320 its under powered. Next door nieghbor has a 2320 and I use it enough to be honest about the comparrison. My new 2520 is at the dealer as we speak. I'll have the twins and the 2520. With the new promotion, its really a no brainer.:D

smalltown,
I agree with the others, get the 2520 not enough difference in size to talk about. Since you are looking at a hoe package the 2520 with better hydraullics makes more sense. I would draw the line you are talking about between the 2x20 and 3x20 machines.

I suggest you get a quote on the 2520 equipped with the attachments you wan't and compare these.

Well guys the 2520 new is out of the question as you can see I would pay a steep price for a new 2320.:( Hence the looking around for a good used one out of state. Amazing to me the price difference not only between dealers within an area, but especially dealers outside my area. Congratulations to those who can get new tractors for great prices.

I started this journey looking at 2305s then 1026Rs, and now the 2320.
Just remember somebody needs to buy your used 2320 so you can move up the tractor feed chain otherwise you wouldn't get a descent resell or dealer trade in.:)

Sometimes I think I will end up with a mule and a plow. (notice I didn't say jackass )

Keeping on roughly the same topic I had read that if I used the John Deere configurator that depending on the dealer I should get roughly 10-15% off of that price from a local dealer.

I am running into problems with that method or am I missing something?
For example if you select 2330 on the configurator the price is $13,473 + $250 destination charge for $13,723 (freight, setup and delivery not included indicated at bottom of configurator).

Here's a quote from my dealer 2320 (blockheater added) list $15,475, price $13,459, discount $250, total $13,209. The way the dealer quoted me was to deduct $500 from two implements rather than the tractor itself.

If I use the quote and subtract out the #46 backhoe
I have 2320 with blockheater, 62d deck and 200cx loader (53") for $18,773.

How do they get these numbers?

2520 with fel, and 62 mmm, $16,500 to $16,999 depending on dealer, before $2500, with $1000 rebate was $17,999, subtract additional $1500 = $16,500, unless dealer gets greedy.

Looking at the configureator, 2520, 200cx, 62"mmm and #46 hoe about $28,800. Less $2500 less 10% I get about $23,700. Should be able to buy for $24,000 and tax.

Steve thanks for taking the time to help. Yes my numbers are very close to yours so the good news is I was pretty close, but the bad news is dealers around here are apparently asking way too much.
Dealer 1 approx $25,452 for 2320
Dealer 2 approx $24,000 for 2320

I want to buy new and local, but I can see the argument for buying from a distant dealer (even used) and having it shipped if the shipping was reasonable.

Thanks again.

P.S. I just got back from the dealer lot and looked at, and sat on the 2320 and 2520. Those rear tires on the 2520 do make it appear much larger then the 2320, but sitting on them they appeared to be the same size. The 2320 did seem to have a just a little more leg room.

Also I have no idea where the dealer gets those high list prices he stated on the quote.

smalltown,
Bear in mind that is what I would consider minimal discounts. In my locale 18% off for the 4x20 series and 15% off on the X7xx series mowers. I suspect I could buy the 2520 as above for $24,000 to $24,250 out the door.
