Just had a "heart-to-heart" discussion with my local dealer regarding my recent purchase of a JD 5075M from a dealership that's 4,700 miles away!!
They wouldn't budge from 7.5% below the JD website numbers! Of course, that's exactly what they did with the previous 2 tractors I've purchased in the past 7-8 years as well! So, I wasn't surprised...
That said, it was a painstaking process to even get them to move towards 7.5% off. They'd only move after I provided competing bids from other dealers.
We all need local dealers... but, those dealerships must also recognize the basic rule of competition as well. 'Cause we ALL have to pay our bills and as much as we might like it - the dealer isn't gonna pay for my heat and lights if I come up short - any more that I'd offer to pay his overhead; if he comes up short!
Long and short message - beat the bushes - for dealerships that are close enough that you might be able to trailer the tractor yourself (or with help from a buddy) or with the help of a shipping company.
With those numbers in hand and head - visit your local guys - and bring donuts!
