Yup guys, I was referring to my mechanic's disparagement of a fellow who fashioned a tie-down for his differential lock lever(to keep the rear wheel differential locked all the time), and also used 4WD while working in a swampy area. Yes, he didn't get stuck and indeed impressed his fellow workers (a fact of which he was apparantly quite proud), but ended up doing major damage to the transmission after the week's work (so, 40 hours of great traction in mud, and then a new transmission - maybe not a great trade-off). The 5 days of work before this clown crunched the tractor's transmission testifies to how tough the Kubota is - I seriously doubt any of us "gentlemen farmers", "country squires", or similar will be able to seriously hurt our tractors with most of the stuff we do if we take care to perform the routine maintenance/lube tasks.
