The tilt guage is a good thing to have along with the top/sun shield (canopy). I got the shiny tread-plate design canopy because of the heavier duty design and greater sun-reflectivity (when compared to the Kubota fiberglass unit). However, the one disadvantage that I've found is that my tractor seems to be less stable now with the weight of the canopy (50lbs?) mounted at a significant height above the center-of-gravity.

Kevin, thanks for the info on the canopy. I was wondering about the stability. I had been thinking about making a canvas cover sun shade but was concerned about the forward posts becomming a danger on a roll over. So, it looks like a choice of either increasing the chance of a roll over with the factory canopy or the risk of additional injury from a homemade sun shade. . .

The link posted below takes you to a thread (with photos) that I started some time back. For my newer B2910 I decided to try a Fabric Canopy (Umbrella style) that has a custom mount designed to mount to a tractor's ROPS.

I liked the concept because the fabric canopy is much lighter than the standard canopies (less impact on center-of-gravity), plus it allowed me to easily remove it and fold my folding ROPS as needed.

However, the fabric canopy unbrella shade mounts higher than a standard canopy. Now when you mount that canopy on a folding ROPS, which is taller than a standard ROPS, then (1) you can have a problem with obstacle clearance and (2) the increased headroom allows a lot more sun to come in from the sides.

I haven't used the umbrella-style shade at all this year (so far). There's a pretty good chance that I may not.
