Unobtanium? Was that supposed to mean unobtainable? Reason I ask is because the only place I've looked for hydraulic fluid so far is tractor supply. Did you used synthetic hydro fluid and synthetic engine oil?

Unobtanium is just a recent slang for unobtainable anywhere.
I suggest using a high grade UTF, (Universal Tractor Fluid) specked for wet brake systems, which your Kioti has, it can be synthetic, but these are somewhat hard to find, depending on your locale and can also be costly. Kioti does now make it's own spec and named hydraulic fluid, but it is not cheap.
Synthetic oils for the engine are more readily available, Shell Rotella, Diesel oil, 5w-40 and similar grades. Your climate could use the 15-40 Rotella, since you're not in a real cold area.
The front axle can use either gear oil or UTF. If you have more questions about how to get the axle properly drained and refilled just ask.

Yep. Sorry, I shouldn't use slang. In some areas the other fluids might be as close as your tractor store or fuel/lube supplier (some here have said Wal Mart carries it) but I could only find them at high cost online. So I used Tractor Supply UTF that is spec'ed for wet brakes. I don't think they had synthetic.

They had Synthetic Blend oil but since it doesn't specify the % of synthetic I went for the conventional oil. I would pay more for full synthetic if I thought it was needed. And NAPA has an oil filter that is for this engine. He had to order it and I had it the next day.http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kioti-owning-operating/165638-filter-cross-reference-help.html

That is an idea K man, but the dealer is 2 hours away :) I did get him to throw in the filters when I bought the tractor so I have those taken care of, just need fluid. What other things should be done other than whats in the manual?

He changed the fuel, air, HST, oil filters. All fluids e.g. , rear axel, front axle, HST/tranny. Grease all nipples on tractor and loader, checked the battery, lights etc etc. Draining front axle took the longest cause it just ooze out and you have to do both sides. Over all I got to see how and what needs changing for my next service of which I will do myself.

I didn't change the air, fuel filters or the front axle oil. I didn't think they would need it after 50 hrs.

Thanks for that link Buggs. However, I think i'm going to order from zoro. It comes in 2.5 gal container, which is easier to pour, and I figure I can buy 3 which should be plenty enough fluid to change my trans and front axle. I think I will come off cheaper that way since it would be free shipping. Any other thoughts?

I've purchased several times from Zoro and have had no problems either. I just did my 50hr service last month, used about 6 gallons of Kioti Lube to change trans and front axle so you should have plenty. I was originally just going to change the filters until I saw the oil that came out changing the hydro filter, a lot dirtier than I expected so off to the dealer for more hydro oil!

thanks handtools, I like that confirmation on changing the fluid instead of just the filters. i've been debating it over and over, but going to just do it all. by the way, nice looking tractor! wish I would have gotten the Backhoe lol

Started on my 50hr Service tonight, got the oil and filter changed(that oil filler port is a slow go). I was looking at all the drain plugs and am a little confused on which plug to pull for the hydro oil. There are 4 plugs it looks like. One in the middle, a large one about under the seat and two smaller ones on both axle sides. Is it just the large one I need to pull to drain the fluid? By the way,i attempted to take the hydro filter off underneath and everyone is right about it being a real pain.
Also, I see the drain plugs for the front axle, but the manual says there is a check plug, which I looked all over the axle and couldn't find. Does this tractor have that check fluid plug?
