ScottK, the 2520 has direct injection, not glowplugs. Not sure about the 2320??

Runner, I'm guessing the "glowplug" light I see on my dash is probably linked to the preheater.

Thanks for posting that Runner.

I know I don't have glow plugs on my 2520 - they just are not there.

What ScottK might be referring to - My old 2210 did exactly as he said, where the glow plugs would energize with the key in the 'start' position only. You could pre-heat by putting the transmission in gear or pulling out the PTO button while turning the key to 'start'.

Now, I'm pretty sure the 2320 shares the same engine as the 2210/2305, so those engines do have glow plugs.

My 2520 simply does not have glow plugs or any kind of indicator light.

Where do you see the glowplug light on your dash.

Not sure why some of you are saying you don't have glow plugs. You most certainly do on the 2320 and 2530. They are standard. When you turn the key to the on positon the glow plug indicator should come on for 3 seconds and then go out. That is when you are supposed to start the engine. The owners manual explains it all.... If your light is not coming on, then you have a problem.

Not only does my 2520 not have a glowplug indicator light but my manual also says nothing about it.

I don't see anything about glow plugs in either the tech manual or the owner's manual for the 2520. However, page 149 of the tech manual outlines the operation of the engine preheater. It says this:

"The preheater is energized (heated) when the key switch is placed in the ON and START positions...

After 15 seconds, the timer turns off and removes the ground path from the 121 Blu/Grn wires and the preheat relay coil. This causes the preheat relay to open and stop supplying currrent to the 33 and 32 Blk/Red wire and the manifold heater...

When the key switch is in the START position, current is provided from the C2terminal of the key switch to the 31 and 32 Blk/Red wire and to the manifold heater...

When the engine starts, and the key switch is returned to the ON position, power to the C2 terminal and 31 and 32 Blk/Red wires in removed."

So, no glow plugs on the 2520, but yes it has a manifold air intake heater. The heater comes on whenever the ON or START positions are selected on the starter switch, and in either case, it shuts off automatially after 15 seconds.

Now this makes more sense. The service manager at my dealership told me about the manifold heater. He said to put my hand on the intake hose to see if it warms up a bit.

Well, after reading the manual, the light that looks like a 'heater' icon on the right side of the dash should be oil pressure.
No picture , just counting the 3 lights that should be on, according to manual.
For the fifteen seconds that that light is on there is also a ticking from under the hood somewhere.

That's a strange icon for oil pressure.
oil presssure is usually red with an oil can graphic

glow plug indicator is usually yellow with a little graphic of a coiled wire.

The yellow graphic of the coiled wire on the Deere is why I called it a glow plug light. Looks a bit more like a light bulb than a typical glow coil.
Must have hired a Ford designer. :)

Rogator, I took this snapshot from the 2720 owner's manual link in another thread. My "glowplug light" shows up where the red square is.

Bill B, the engine oil pressure is the second light from the top on the left side of the dash (labled D in my attachment)

That is really strange. Is your 2520 an earlier year than mine. Mine is a 2008. Maybe they change them to not have one.
Does anyone else have this light?

2008 2520 delivered 3rd week of February.
Just a FEL and BH. no mower.
I can't find my Canon or there would be a pic of the lit icon(s) up here.

I'm headed home and will check ina bit, but I'm fairly certain I have room for 4 icons/lights on the left and 4icons/lights on the right side of the dash.
Very similar to Birdmayon's drawing . Except 4 slots for lights on the right side (where his drawing shows 2) and my yellow one lights up on the bottom right.
I didn't buy either block heater or water heater options.

Edit: I kinda assumed that (like a car) the block and/or water heater plugged into an AC outlet.
