2520 COMPACT UTILITY TRACTOR
Just in time for the fall season, John Deere's 2520 is the latest installment of the highly
acclaimed TWENTY Series Compact Utility Tractors. Customers will find the 2520 primed
for work with significant improvements over the 4115, the similar-size model it replaces.
The engine is 11% larger, with 10% more gross horsepower (26.5 hp), than the 4115 engine.
The stronger powerplant will provide all the torque that commercial operators demand.
Consequently, residential customers will be thrilled with the commercial-grade performance
when they mow, till, grade, etc. as they maintain their property. Further, the new engine is
"EPA Tier II compliant" and therefore produces cleaner exhaust, a plus for the operator as
well as the environment.
The 2520 Compact Utility Tractor features the first mower deck with OnRamp™ technology,
which makes it easier than ever to both attach the mower and remove it from the tractor. The
theme of easy-to-attach, easy-to-detach continues with the Quik-Park™ system on the 200CX
Loader. (For customers who do not require the Quik-Park system, the 200X Loader is also
available at a lower cost.) Finally, with an even lower price than the 4115, customers will be
eager to test drive the new 2520 Compact Utility Tractor.
The 2520 Tractor sports the same agricultural styling as the 3000 and 4000 TWENTY Series
Tractors. This common design signifies the John Deere legacy of reliability and durability. In
addition, improvements such as a new high-back seat and decreased pedal efforts will further
widen the “comfort gap” between John Deere and the competition.
The new 62D OnRamp Mower addresses a key customer complaint—attachment removal.
With standard hydrostatic transmission and dual pedal controls, even the first-time buyer will
be able to operate like a pro. The 2520 arrives ready-to-work with standard mid-DSCV’s, 4-
wheel drive, mid- and rear-independent PTO’s, position-control rockshaft, and steering
brakes.

Implement Compatibility:
Implements for the 2520 Tractor include the following:
• Front: The 2520 will use the current 54-in. Front Blade, 52-in. and 60-in. Rotary Broom,
47-in. Snow Blower (available November 2005); however, some attaching components
require updating to work with this new tractor.
Note:The front Quick Hitch and new front implement attaching bundles for the 2520 Compact
Utility Tractor are scheduled for availability 15 October 2005. Order codes and pricing
will be released at that time. The front Quick Hitch will be compoundable with the new
OnRamp Mid-Mount Mower deck using a special bracket, which is due out later this
year.
• Loader: 200CX Loader (parkable), 200X Loader (non-parkable)
• Mid: 62D OnRamp Mower Deck, 72TT Mower Deck
• Rear: 46 Backhoe and various Category 1 three-point-hitch-mounted implements
Product positioning: The 2520 begins with the "designed-in" John Deere standards for
engineering excellence, comfort, durability, and reliability. However, the characteristics that
separate the 2520 from all other competitive tractors are ease-of-use (dual-pedal control for
forward and reverse, standard cruise control) and ease of attaching/detaching implements
(iMatch Quick Hitch, 62D OnRamp Deck, and the 200CX Parkable Loader).
Primary customers: The 2520 Tractor is built to a commercial standard for robustness. And
yet, this tractor is so comfortable and easy to use that it is equally at home on the farm—even
if the “farm” is a residential estate.
Specific customer groups for the 2520 Tractor include large-property owners, landscape
installers, schools, and municipalities. With the addition of a 200CX Loader and a 46
Backhoe, the 2520 Tractor also makes an excellent package for rental businesses.

Hey Dutch,
Any more details about the 62D RampOn Mower?

What is "RampOn"? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Can't find it on deere's site? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

/ 2520 REVEALED!! #8
From Deere Bulletin 05-67, RampOn is a "drive over feature" that also has provision built in to pick up the deck with the 3PH and iMatch. The same bulletin also states that the 2520 comes in priced less than the 4115 it replaces. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Deck Info

( The new 54D and 62D OnRamp Mid-Mount Mowers offer customers great cut quality along
with unsurpassed ease of attachment. These new mowers are a perfect match for the new 2320
and 2520 Tractors as well as the 4115 Tractor.
Key benefits: The 54D and 62D OnRamp Mowers offer customers the ability to easily install
and remove their mower deck from the tractor in just a few minutes on a variety of surfaces.
These new mowers are packed with features, including the following:
• On ramps - the ramps guide the front tires and are the secret to helping the operator
remove/install the mower deck quickly and easily
• Stow ‘n’ Go brackets – once the mower is detached from the tractor, the Stow ‘n’ Go
brackets allow the customer to use either the 3-point hitch or iMatch™ Quick Hitch to
easily transport the mower for storage or service
• Heavy-duty gauge wheels are equipped with a quick-release pin, memory setting, and
grease fitting
• Convertible deck for side discharge, mulching, or bagging (3-bag material collection
system available February 2006)
• Optional independent lift kits – use the tractor hydraulics to lift/lower the mower deck
independently of the 3-point hitch (as opposed to the standard mechanical lift system,
which uses the 3-point hitch)
• Simple 3-step installation: 1) Drive over mower deck; 2) Latch front support bracket and
mid-rockshaft arms; 3) Connect mid-PTO
• PTO shaft has a lock-back collar that allows for easy installation on the PTO shaft of the
tractor )

( These mowers are designed to achieve the highest level
of easy-attachability, while providing the quality of cut a customer would expect from a
commercial mid-mount mower.
The spindle pockets and deck shells have been structurally reinforced to support the
drive-over stresses. This provides the strength and robustness of a commercial mower deck
while providing the stability and versatility of a tractor, compared to a ZTR.
Product positioning: The 54D and 62D OnRamp Mowers provide the cut quality that
customers expect from John Deere. These mowers are sturdy enough for many customer
applications yet priced competitively. However, what sets these mowers apart from the
competition most is the ease of attachment and storage.
Tractor compatibility:
*Please note that the 2320 and 2520/4115 do NOT share a common 62D Mower. The mower
decks are only slightly different but can be easily identified by the designation on the serial
number plate: “62D1” for the 2320 Tractor and “62D2” for the 2520/4115 Tractors. They are
NOT interchangeable. See the price pages for order codes.
The 54D and 62D Mid-Mount Mowers are compatible with the 200X and 200CX Loaders as
well as the front quick-tatch hitch. The front hitch/mid-mower combination bracket,
LVB24899, is needed to use OnRamp mowers and the front hitch (LVB24899 available winter
2006).
Independent lift: Optional independent lift kits increase versatility by allowing rear
implements to remain on the tractor and be raised and lowered independently of the
mid-mount mower.
• Independent lift kits available for the 54D and 62D Mower Decks can be used on the 2320
and 2520 Tractors only (4115 does not support independent lift)
• Raising and lowering the mower deck is easily done by using the loader joystick
• Use the chart below to identify which kits are necessary to achieve independent lift
• If the tractor does not have independent lift, most rear attachment must be removed from
the 3-point hitch or iMatch™ Quick Hitch in order to remove or install a 54D or 62D
Mower Deck. Independent lift will also ensure the 3-point hitch will not contact the
collection bags when using a material collection system.

( Loader compatibility with independent lift: Most customers will remove the loader when
using a mid-mount mower. For those who wish to leave it on, loaders are compatible
following these guidelines:
• When using the loader, it is recommended that the mower be locked in the highest raised
position by using the tractor’s mower height-adjustment control with the 2320 Tractor.
The 2520 Tractor will need BM19507, lock-up kit, to keep deck in locked-up position.
• When using the mower with mechanical lift (controlled by the tractor 3-point hitch), all
loader hydraulics can remain hooked up and operable.
• When using the mower with independent lift, the loader curling and dump hydraulic
outlets must be unhooked and connected to the independent lift cylinder to raise and lower
the mower using the joystick. Loader lift outlets should remain connected for controlling
loader height as needed and lowering the loader for safety when the tractor is parked.
• If a customer plans to use independent lift, John Deere recommends the removal of the
loader from the tractor to avoid this confusion over hydraulic lines. Removing the loader
when using the mid-mount mower will provide the following advantages:
1) A lower overall tractor weight, which will not impact the turf as much.
2) Better maneuverability around trees and obstacles. )

Where is it on Deere's web site? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

/ 2520 REVEALED!! #15
I called a dealer this morning and was quoted $16450 for a 2520 w/ CX200 FEL. That's about what a Kubota B2630 goes for. I dunno, maybe I want Green now. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sweet! If I ever trade the 4115 I can keep my 46BH for the 2520! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

/ 2520 REVEALED!! #19
Maybe my math is wrong? but according to the configurator:

4115 Tractor $16,809
Folding ROPS $158
R4 Tires $94
DSCV $683
Total MSRP $17,744

The new 2520 comes with all these same features
"standard" for $15,279

That's a savings of almost $2500 !!!
How'd da do dat? China instead of Japan?

Dave.

/ 2520 REVEALED!! #20
Deere has publicly stated that they are going to get significant savings by minimizing model differences (like the entire 4000TWENTY series probably differs by 3 or 4 parts) and by making the standard features list bigger. By having more parts interchangeable and by having more things already on the machine, they save money, and can pass some savings along.

Making the DSCV standard (for example) is great for consumers and Deere. Imagine how often they had to race around to get a valve for a machine that ewas already sitting on a lot because the buyer needed it that way, or had to switch machines between dealers. By making it standard on every tractor and lowering the price who would complain? Even if you have nio use for it, why not take it? It helps resale at the very least. And if you don't get the loader, but your tractor is loader ready you are more likely to go ahead and add one later (a chance fro Deere to add on to the sale)

Same holds true for the ROPS and other features. I wonder how many ROPS were ended up laying around from dealers ordering the rigid ones only to have to upgrade it to make a sale. Eventually it makes sence to add more AND lower the pricec!

Then there is the biggest savings, No 4010 replacement! If the price point of the 2320 is where it looks like it willl be, a 4010 replacement looks very unlikely. More savings for Deere and lower prices to boot.
