Fuel filters and air filters are real conditional on your tractor use.... If you always buy clean fresh diesel and keep your tank top'd off as much as possible, your fuel filter could last for years. You should check and clean the air prefilter when you get a chance, and again, the internal air filters can last for years, too. It's hard for them to know what each user is experiencing, so they err on the replace it all the time side....

Fuel Filters are critical in a HPCR engine...as such they should be changed at least every oil change regardless of the mfg recommendation...especially if the unit sits for long periods of time allowing moisture to build in the fuel system. Changing out the Trans/Hyd fluid is critical at 50 hours as all of the metallic debris from the gears, pumps, and valves from break in should be removed.

I plan on changing all the fluids like I said, it doesn't make sense to change filters and leave old fluid in there. but the fuel filters at 50 hrs have about 35 or so gallons of fuel through them. I run 40-50 gallons of fuel through my 2010-2017 diesel trucks every couple days sometimes and change the fuel filters about a couple times a year every 10,000 miles. Im not against doing extra maint, just against wasting money. I really think Mahindra should be consistent on their service from dealer to dealer and in the manuals.

+1. Changing fuel filters at every oil change is a waste of money and resources. Just follow the factory oil and filter change recommendations and stop trying to second guess the engineers that built the engine :cool2:

The more fuel goes through the filters the longer they will last, many casual tractor owners don't even run the engines enough to get the fuel warm which compounds condensation and moisture issues. If you use your tractor at least an hour every time you use it and keep the tank full then waiting unitl 500 hours isn't an issue, but 90% of the users on this forum will never get their fuel above room temperature and should replace them every oil change. The manuals are consistent it is the dealers who need to read them or consult their Mahindra Rep.

CP3 Pump $2000, Fuel Rail $500, Fuel Injectors $570 EACH, and Labor or Fuel Water Separator $13 and Fuel Filter $54...it's a no brainer to change them early if you do not use your tractor enough to keep the moisture out. It would take a LOT of fuel filters and water separator elements to come close to equaling the damage caused by water and contaminants in the fuel! I think the extra $70 in parts and 15 minutes in labor is cheap insurance against an expensive repair bill...especially when damage caused by contaminated fuel IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY!

Just wondering if anyone else has heard of any other dealers doing this.
To answer your question, yes, my dealer told me the same thing. He said to wait til at least 300 hours.

I understand what your saying and it makes sense in most ways, however it really wasn't the point. First for me I've only had this tractor for several weeks and already 3/4 way to the 50 hr service so mine doesn't sit around much. My point was i googled the 50 hr service and found different info about changing all filters/fluids to not changing tranny/hst or fuel filters ect. So I stopped in at my dealer and they say all filters and fluids must be changed (even though other dealers say different). My manual clearly states fuel and air are OK till 500 hrs (i'll do mine at least once a year no matter hrs.). I guess I wonder why the dealers follow something different than the manual. Of course I would change $70 in parts to save a big repair, any normal person would. It would be great to have the final word from Mahindra on what is necessary, not random dealer opinions.

The dealer should be adhering to the manual and not opinion unless the manual has a misprint, which does happen in translation from time to time.

For engine oil, that is true, because of the way the oil is contaminated and degraded. But for hydraulic fluid, there is no equivalent problem, and it's perfectly fine to change the filters only at 50 hours. Hydraulic fluid can go many hundreds of hours before it needs replacing, and at 50 hours it's practically new. You'll just be wasting fluid and money changing it out so soon.

At 50 hrs, every bit of milling, grinder dust, casting sand, filings or whatever is floating thru your fluid systems... One complete changeout is cheap insurance against early wear.... IMHO...
