2538 how many grease zerks ?

I counted 7 Grease Zerks
One on each front axle, one in front and behind the steering pinion, two at the forward reverse pedals and one on the brake pedal.
If someone finds more please let me know

I only counted 12 - six on each side

I came back to this post because I could only find 6 of them. I'm going out to to hit the break pedal one now. The loader was pretty easy and I'm sure I missed a couple on the backhoe.

Most backhoes have a couple that are almost hidden on the inside end of the swing cylinders. Mine are the very devil to get to for greasing.

I think I might put some wrap around extensions on them some day. I've got some 1/4" stainless fuel line out in the garage that may be just the ticket.

A good rule of thumb is that there is at least one zerk for every pin and a pin at every joint and two for every cylinder. Lots of zerks on a backhoe. In addition to the sneaky ones on the inside of the swing cylinder, don't forget the one at the top of the main boom (which is often not reachable in the storage position) and also there are several on the stabilizers.

Yeah I know where all of mine are which is why I bought an expensive battery powered grease gun and put a locknlube tip on it. That helped make the job a bit more tolerable. For farmers with a lot of equipment, I don't see how they have the time to grow any crops since they have so much greasing to do.

I have two battery powered Lincoln grease guns but I rarely use them. Did I mention that I cannot stand NiCad batteries? I like the plain old manual lever style with a locknlube tip.

I hate NiCad and think they suck too. I buy lithium powered tools though. I like having a hand free so this setup works for me.

Typically any moving joint should have a zerk, simply cleanup the area and you should find it.
Pump in some grease until you see clean new grease and you are good to go.
Wipe off that old grease and carry on.
