I recently bought a 2615 hst with FEL. I have grand total of 5 hours on it. I used it today for about 3 hours and shut it off for a couple of minutes. It took me an hour to start it again. I finally had to bypass the starter. Now it will start but I don't have to push in the clutch. Also, it is difficult to place lever in L gear. Should I be concerned and call my dealer?

Thanks in advance

I don't have to engage the clutch to start my 3015 hst. Just has to be in one of neutral indents between the ranges.

I have the same tractor (2615HST). You don't need to push in the clutch to start it. (In fact, I hardly use the clutch at all with HST, Only for engaging the PTO's slowly) Check to make sure the L/M/H lever is in one of the neutral positions (there is a neutral safety switch on that lever) and make sure you didn't accidentally engage the mid or rear PTO lever (more safety switches). I did that one time. Accidentally hit a PTO lever driving over some rough terrain, the next time I went to start it, it wouldn't start. Just about pulled out my hair trying to figure out why it wouldn't start. Once I moved the levers where they're supposed to be it started right up. It will only crank / start if both PTO's are off and the L/M/H/ lever is in neutral. Putting the lever into low can be tough if your on a grade, (not level) or if there is resistance on one of the wheels. Using the brake and clutch may help getting it in.

I appreciate the responses. I guess since I was pushing the clutch in every time like the manual states to do that I never noticed that I did not need to use it to start the tractor.

As far as the starting problem, however, I am sure that the lever was in neutral and the pto was definitely off. Could this be an ignition switch issue? Or should I log a few more hours on the tractor and see if the problem comes up again? This is my first new tractor and I guess that I might be over-reacting just a bit. Just want to make sure that it is running correctly.

Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,
When the starting problem occured, did it crank and not start or did it do nothing when you turned the key? If it did nothing, its usually one of the safety switches. It is possible the the starter, its solenoid, or even the ignition key switch could be at fault, but since its so new I doubt it.

If it does nothing when you turn the key, try holding the key as if you're starting it with one hand and move the PTO and H/M/L levers. If it starts, you've found which switch to adjust.

I will PM you re: your other question. Pic attached

I would be a bit poed if it happen to me also. Make sure the range select is in a nuetral postition AND it is all the was toward the seat. If it is starting normally now, I wouldn't bother the dealer. If it does it again, I would. I would also check both neutral positions if it does it again.

Try some spray on those switches and work them manually to be sure they don't stick. I watched a dealer do this with a used unit and it worked?

I have 2015 and have had similar problems. Lift the seat and slam it down. That fixes it for me. I keep meaning to adjust switch but never seem to remember till it won't start.

Lifting the seat and slamming it down on the 2615HST won't do any good. There is no seat switch. The only safety interlock switches are on the PTO's and L/M/H Neutral position controls. Even if there was a seat switch, I would have bypassed that one.
