Long story and need help........purchased the tractor a few months ago with 224 total hours. Test drove before purchase and all works except temp and fuel gauge (from what I can tell that is a common issue as well). The issue that I have now is engine shuts down via several methods / several sequences / different ways.

With the Parking Lever in the lock or in the up position everything STARTS great (strong/quick start and with smooth idle, etc.). This is where it gets tricky........sometimes the engine will shut itself down when its cold within just 30 seconds of any start WHEN the parking lever is moved down or to the Unlock position. The engine will shut itself down IF you leave the parking lever up and then push the clutch and shift into any gear and then push parking lever down and then release the clutch. The same shutdown will happen if you do any sequence regarding Parking Lever, Clutch, Any Gear, any throttle area, 2WD or 4DW, etc. (PTO is disengaged).

The un-commanded engine shutdown happens 9 times out of 10 when ANY of the sequence's are done that are noted above.

I had recently added 4 gallons of fresh fuel to the tank. I changed the fuel filter and cleaned the sediment fuel bowl yesterday and only noted small amount of particles in bowl. After a few start attempts the self bleeding system worked itself through and everything starts normal, just like before but I have the same Un-Commanded shutdown result.

Strong start every time.
Smooth idle all the time.
Smooth and proper increase/decrease of RPM with Throttle lever every time at any position.

Same thing happens if the engine is cold or hot. In fact the engine never really gets close to any normal operating temp.

Asking for any help since I am stuck with this issue..........Thank you Stacy

Sounds like a broken, chaffed wire or bad connection on one of the safety interlock circuits, which is opening itself up or grounding itself out under the right conditions. I'd get a wiring diagram, follow the wiring and poke around.

My wag is the seat safety switch. I would check it.
