284 clutch safety switch problem

The switchs are not expensive and I know that is not the point,after the sale service has been a problem as dealers go in and out all the time.We sell parts all the time that should be under warranty from the dealer that sold the tractor , if it was a bigger $$$$ item I would pursue them every day,the switch is around $ 10.00 about the same as a bottle of asprin for the headache it's causing

I would replace it pronto! We all do stupid things and that's why the safety switch is there. To help keep us from running ourselves over ! Reason why it broke usually has more to do with the adjustment being out then with a crappy sw. The pedal was bottoming out the switch until it broke. With the new switch adjust it to the pedal while it is resting on the stop. Mine's still working at 176hrs and only cause someone else pointed out that they are all out of adjustment from the factory. -Ed

I too recommend replacing the switch for safety reasons like Ed and Tommy and others say.
I also changed the wire size because when this happened on Loretta's 284, (the pedal was crushing it) it shorted out and I SAW the small wire sizzle and burn up in front of my eyes. I did connect it direct (no switch) because I have not gotten a replacement, but I don't recommend it.
Maybe Tommy can send me one?

For the price of the switch I would just get one from Tommy and be done with it. If he comes around on the other issues send him the receipt and tell him to remburse you for it also.
