2nd choice of tractor

Prolly something with a Cab.. These winters seem to be getting longer.

Technically, since I had one, and am now getting another, I would say Kioti, Kioti, (for it is what I have done, am doing).
Happy the 1st time around, and have experience/knowledge with it, plus it is a good buy, (the rear lift lever is a cherry on top).

I looked around at a lot though this time around.

If $ was no object I would probably stay orange, just a sea over though.

If I had to chose within the same parameters that I have been under but had to chose something other than the "Pack", then Mahindra and/or LS.

The rear 3PT lever is convenient but be careful. I stopped my tractor with a box blade elevated to check something. Engine off. I was behind the tractor on the side and reached over accidentally hitting the rear lever. It dropped the box blade on my foot and pinned me. Engine off (I was being safe) so I couldn't raise the implement. Luckily my wife was in earshot and she brought me a crow bar so I could lever the box blade corner up and pull my foot out. Next thing I did was paint white stripes on the rear lever so I would notice it better next time.

Island, close call. Glad you posted this. I love the rear 3PT lever on my NX, but even when you are intentionally activating it, it's important to keep feet and arms clear of the path of movement of the implement, lift arms and link arms. And that's both when raising and lowering. I can see getting pinched or bruised in either direction.

Yes, painful lesson that could have been much worse. I am pretty careful about always lowering the implement before dismounting these days but there are times when I cannot (such as when I am getting ready to block up the flail mower so I can work on blades). The photo below shows what I have done to make sure I don't overlook the lever while working in back. The normal grey color was easy to overlook as there are other big slabs of grey back there. Similarly, lots of safety (Chevy) orange. So, I made me a tiger stripe pattern to catch my eye in the future.

Okay, I hate to admit this because one, I try to be safe, and two, I hate to look foolish, (which seems to be my natural state so why do I not embrace it?).

So back in the DK45 days I was finishing a hot and tiring day mowing my alfalfa field with a 3 point HayMaxx disc mower.
I look to put the mower in travel position, (straight back instead of to the side), so I stop on level ground, PTO and tractor off.
I have the 3pt hitch up all the way so I can inspect underneath, but do not lock it in travel position.
I notice some debris that needs removing and go to the box at the back to grab some pliers.

Now, instead of being safe and going into the station then to the box, I be "Wile - E - Coyote Super Genious" and go from the back to get what I want by leaning up and over the box.
On the come down I hit the 3pt lever enough to cause it to drop 6- 8", still well above the ground so no problem there.
But, while this does not seem a problem, with the weight of the, (unsecured), disc mower, the drop causes enough momentum to "bounce" and then swing the mower into cutting position.
This whacks me pretty good with the safety bars of the mower and briefly pins me against the fender do the fact that was were I was at by this point of events.

Luckily, 1), the mower was not going, (I have never messed around with the PTO running, small victories there), 2), the mower was not secured and easily pushed back in travel position so I was able to get out of my predicament by myself, and 3), the Missus did not see that "stunt," (oh she would not have been happy, she - rightfully? - worries so).

Ultimately I did end up with a bruised body, (with the explanation to the B.B.L. as "I don't know." Luckily small injuries that just "happen" to me are a matter of fact with the Missus and I, and sometimes it is true!), and ego.

Still, not the machines fault, and I love that 3pt lever there.

Looked at:
Kioti NX4510
Kioti NX5510
Kubota GL4760
Kubota GL5060
Mahindra 5010

all Cab and HST+ FEL

Selected the NX5510.
Close second choice would have been Kubota GL5060.

I also seriously considered these cabbed products below.
Although they are not tractors, I would have kept my Kubota L3240 and added one of these instead of replacing the tractor)

Bobcat 3650 UTV (really a Polaris, same as the Brutus HD/PTO)
Bobcat Toolcat 5610
(the 3650 was not enough vehicle, and the toolcat was too much vehicle)

I was not impressed with the only kioti I have used. If I bought a second machine I would strongly consider a full size backhoe. 99 percent of my work is loader or backhoe work. I would rather have a used Kubota VS a new kioti any day.

What model was it ?

I can understand the preference for a full size TLB as the loader and BH would be stronger. However, most Kioti loaders are rated higher than equivalent HP CUT loaders from Kubota. I don't recall there being much difference with backhoes from Kioti or Kubota in the CK or B lineup respectively. My experience with DK size is with Woods so I cannot compare larger BHs from Kioti or Kubota.
