3 Point bushings

How high is the oil level in you tank? The reason I ask is according to my dipstick the oil is just to about the bottom of the seal/bushing area when filled to the proper level.

I just wonder if you are overfilling it?

The level in my tank is correct according to the dipstick.

With some folks, that's a matter subject to interpretation. On mine there's one mark, ~1/4" from the bottom of the stick. I consider that the full mark. Any higher, and there's a mess down the backside of the tractor. And in your case, I can see where it might come out laterally as well.

If there's any fluid on the stick at all, I consider it full. I never add a drop till the stick comes out dry, then only fill it back up to that bottom line.

From the bottom of the dipstick to the bottom of the 'cap' with the vent holes in it measures 3 1/8" long and the mark is 3/4" from the bottom of the dipstick. I've had the tractor 7 years and the 3 point arms have never leaked in the past. I have always had trouble with it coming out the vent in the back even when it's a little low. We do have hills I go up and down to mow etc. In the past I just wrapped a wrag around it to keep it from running down.

I made a overflow for my vent tube using a piece of hose and a radiator overflow style bottle. It works great and keeps the back end clean. When it starts getting some fluid in it I simply pour it back in.

Ok I know this is an old post but my F404 started leaking only from the left side 3Point control arm. I have called Affordable for parts but since I need a few other things I have to wait to verify them before just ordering the parts to fix this.

A couple of assumptions:
It has always had blow out the vent top so there is a vent tube on the vent pipe that goes into a collector.
I too like the OP had been filling to the top second line not the first line about 1/4 from the bottom of the stick

Lastly how do you replace these bushings and seals? Do you have to take the whole 3 point box off the 404? Or, can they be removed while installed on the unit and just pulled out the side? I do have the manual and can see the parts but its not clear if I have to remove all the shafts and guts first or can they be removed out the side

Thanks in advance for any guidance

Tommy,
Thanks I called in and talked to one of you guys this morning. I have a few more non related parts that I need to identify before ordering so I can order once. ;)

Do you have a suggestion on the fill level? I keep a container back there with a tube on the overflow vent.. I bet I take a half gallon of overflow out every other month.

I am not overfilling it on purpose but as stated above there are two lines on the dipstick.. I have always thought of the lowest one as the "hey not enough discontinue use until refilled line" and the upper one as the " this is the maximum full line". I keep it between there but it pukes out the breather quite regularly.. Some including Greg have noted they do not fill to the top line I was wondering if that was the facts or ?
