Has anyone had experience using a 3 point hitch bucket? I see one advertised as a "3 point scoop bucket". It has a hydraulic cylinder that attaches where the top link is. It is basically a box blade that can be tilted and used for scooping in reverse as well as dragging forward. From the picture it appears to be a commercially made product. I am considering trying to find a FEL attachment for my Ford 3000 but this would be cheaper option. It would be used for scooping some loose material as well as scooping compacted soil.

Thanks,

Don

We used to have one, I am not sure what the hydraulic cylinder is for because we didn't have one. When I was young my dad dug the entire basement for an addition he put on the house. As I remember it took forever and a day to do and there was a lot of colorful metaphors flying through out! They are not the best thing for digging by any means but like my dad if that is all you have and are too cheap to hire someone (which he was) then you use what you got. Ours dumped with a pull rope and it was hard to pull and if you didn't have the majority of the dirt on the cutting edge you had to get off and dump it with your foot, maybe that is what the hydraulic cylinder is for, that would be nice. Hope this is helpful.

Yea, the hydraulic cylinder dumps the load.

I considered a scoop before spending more on the FEL, but I determined it would've been marginally effective in doing what I need to do to maintain my road/driveway and help landscape/reshape our lot where we recently built our home. So, I dug deeper (pun intended) and haven't looked back since. Even if I could've gotten a scoop with hydro dump, just having it on the 3pt instead of front arms seemed to be too awkward and less efficient to warrant the savings, imho.
