The 3400 series is not the only one with the problem!

I tested FIVE brand new tractors, two L3800s, a L4400, a L4600, and a L3240.
The only one WITHOUT a jerky hitch, was the L3240.

I suspect, that had I tried a MX4700 it would be jerky too.

When I say 3400 series, that also includes the 2800, 3200, 3800, and 3700:thumbsup: Because those are all basically the same tractor,

This is the first I have heard of ANYTHING with the L4400/L4600 being jerky:confused:

...If they "did" install a 3010 valve, that is the valve that was used in the L3400 between 61xxx and 69xxx like you said...

....that range would have had to have been sold as model year 2006's?????? and maybe early 07's....
I remembering thinking that was going to be the end of the jerky talk!!! During that time, jerky talk was at an all time low... and I remember the first guy that came on TBN with a new tractor with a jerky hitch. And I thought, here we go again!!!

After checking the L3800 I figured, I'll just go with a larger model and get away from the jerky hitch.
Wrong.
What I thought was wild was the dealer selling the "Special inching valve" as a feature. If it's such a great feature, why don't they put it in the Grand L?

A first time tractor buyier may think that all 3PHs work that way. If it wasn't for this forum, I wouldn't have even tested the 3PH. Why would I, they have been making ones that work right for years ? I would have brought it home, then been stuck with it.
I wonder how many unreported sales are lost because of this "feature"? I bet not many, because most people wouldn't even operate the 3PH at the dealer's, never mind attach a box blade ect. So you return the tractor with 20 hr. on the clock loose 3 grand and end up with a Grand L, or just live with the "feature".

If you subscribe to the conspiracy theory, I think your right!
All the tractors that have 00 in their model number seem to have the problem.
Remember the spy 007? there could be a connection.

I'm actually happy that he was point it out... for better or worst, at least the potential buyer knows about it. I wish ALL dealers would do that - I know that my dealer sure as heck didn't point it out. I think *then* they would have a leg to stand on for not fixing something that was pointed out in the first place...:2cents:

(going broke throwing in my 2 cents all the time :p)

I have no doubt that"s the reason for pointing it out. It certainly isn't a "feature". That's called CYA!

I really don't know what I would have done if it was pointed out to me... most likely would not have thought about it much and bought the tractor anyway... but it would tick me off every time it did it!!!

Also, would not have had it "fixed" since that's the way it is.

I think if I were selling, I'd say.. " The three point isn't as smooth on these as on the Grand L series, most folks never notice it though"

Disclosure and truth all in one sentence. The problem is, it's not a small jump in price to a Grand L with comparable power. You'll run the risk of losing a buyer to another maker if you point it out.

If the dealers would stop ordering the bad models (if they could), it would wake up some people. Then just wait for the $1500 to $2000 discount.

But the "bad" models sell so well.

That's the thing, the L's are some of the best sellers. Small horse operations like ours are a perfect fit for the power and size of an L3400 for example, particularly if you're on a budget. A lot of the 3-20 acre properties around us are dedicated to a couple of horses or small hobby farms. A medium sized tractor is a real plus, if not a necessity.
