I'm in the market for a 3 point spreader, I have searched this forum and cannot find a post related to my question. My L3400 has a quick hitch on rear and it looks to me if I buy a spreader that the control lever will be too far back to reach while sitting in the seat. Is there an extension made for this or has anyone else rigged up one for a solution?

Thanks- Oldstuff

Not a rotary type spreader, but I had to make an extension for the slide gate handle on my Ferguson Yardmaker. Presumably if that is the type of situation you have on a spreader it would be doable.

Whichever you decide on, just make sure you clean it out really well after using or the fertilizer you spread will quickly corrode it. I have a 250 pound 3 point spreader I use and it gets washed out with the pressure washer after each use plus I spray the whirly gig mechanism with oil and grease the gearbox every time.

Mine will not fit on a my quick hitch without major alterations. So I have to remove my quick hitch to use it.
I always wash it after use then spray with a diesel oil mixture, same stuff I treat the trailer deck. No rust after many years.

I have Pat’s on mine and it does set back a ways. I’m a little over 6 feet tall so my arms are long enough to reach it but I have to stretch a little.

I used my spreader frequently with my previous open station tractor. Now that I have a cab I can't reach the spreader gate control, so I'm eventually going to add a 12 volt linear actuator to control the gate.

No issue with my cab tractor at all. Open the back window, reach down and open the gate. I want to keep it simple.

I bought an Agrex spin spreader a few years ago, and they have a mechanical remote control they sell that works really well. It is a lot safer than turning around backwards to open the spreader slots, especially on a hill like I have.

Just for fun last winter, I made a homemade one out of scrap metal and an old brake cable for my elderly neighbor, and it works well too.

Their website is nwimplement.com in Tualatin Or.

I had a Fressori spreader on my old L3430. I had trouble reaching the control lever after I installed Pats, so I made an extension with a bent piece of rebar and clamped it to the lever.

Still works with the cabbed tractor if I open the back window.

Another option is a throttle lock cable. I use one on my herd spreader, open the back cab window feed it through and close window. Works like a charm. You can pick one up at any auto parts store.
