Can't comment on either that you asked about as I have neither one but Salsco makes a monster of a chipper. I could not be happier with it.

Well I have had the Woodland Mills WC 88 for about a month now and cannot find anything I dislike about it. Above it was posted that the feed angle was not flat, it is not but it is darn near flat and poses no issue when feeding long material at all. I have chipped several dump trailers full already and have been impressed with its design and build quality. I would buy the same unit again for sure.

Glad to hear that the chute angle is not a problem. I had only theorized it might be, based on my experience with another chipper that had a steeper chute. It'd have been great to run both the 88 and the Woodmaxx myself to see which I liked but if they had dealers and demos the price would be much more.

A friend has a woodland mills and doesn't have anything bad to say about it. He also has their sawmill. I wanted a bigger chipper, like 12" and went with a PTO drive Brush Bandit.

well sorry I have been busy and didn't have time to update , unit arrived in a couple days after ordering . assembly was simple and painless, another thing they don't tell you is it has a nice metal base that I picked up some casters for today to make a cart for storage . anyway I ran it for a couple days, 1st with old dry material , 2nd day was fresh growth , it worked pretty flawless I started with a john deere 4410 35 hp and it took everything except a probably 4" piece - I broke a shear pin - should have slowed down the feed . next day I tried on a john deere 4066 66 hp to see if there was any difference still worked awesome took everything we threw at it fresh green stuff , broke a shear pin here to- stringy stuff clogged up the chute - its really is nice to be able to open the fly wheel area to clean it out otherwise it would have been a real pia very happy with my purchase I made the right decision.

It sounds like a good unit, a chipper is something that I would like to have. Before opening the flywheel housing be careful to ensure that everything has stopped turning; we would like you to stick around and keep posting.

Yes the shipping frame is an nice surprise, the WG24 grinder comes with a nice smaller one too. I wonder why they talked you into the smaller unit? The WC88 has a slip clutch PTO shaft instead of shear pins. I also thought the Woodland Mills looked to be a better designed and built unit although their are great reviews on it and the Woodmaxx units. The one bolt, clam shell opening for clearing or blade service is nice. The Woodland Mills detailed video on youtube is what sold me. I live on the Gulf Coast and received my chipper and stump grinder exactly one week after ordering. The order process was nice and easy and they transferred me to the tech department to discuss some questions I had prior to ordering. Great company to deal with IMO rather picky opinion. Both the chipper and stump Grinder come with nifty chainsaw mounts also which are really handy.
