3 pt lift adjustment

( I experimented this evening with engine RPM. Even with the RPM down to idle speed - or - as slow as the engine will go, it is still herky jerky. Engine RPM seems to have no or at least an un-noticeable difference. Of course I only had a drawbar attached to the lift arms. Maybe there would be a noticeable difference with a heavier attachment such as my finishing deck.

Mine can be jerky as well moving it little bits at a time. This is kinda hard to explain....If I lift the handle slower and stop slow its not jerky. But if you let it catch up it will stop and start again and be jerky/bouncy.

The thing I don't like is small adjustments. Like moving it from 7 to 7 1/4 it doesn't move. Then move it 7 3/8 and it moves two inches instead of one.

Is there a sensitivity adjustment that controls this or a spring or something? I ordered the shop manual last week for my L3130. Meanwhile.....does anybody know???...Thanks

most of them are that way, and bird gives a very good explanition for it.

Dave, let me suggest something for you to try. The adjustment knob that adjusts the speed with which an implement lowers does not affect the speed with which it raises; however, . . . when you change implements, adjust that knob anyway to the point where that particular implement lowers gently to the ground; i.e., doesn't drop fast. You may have to raise and lower the implement a couple of times to get it just right. Then see if it isn't smoother both lowering and raising.

Bird, We are thinking on the same playing field.. Just this evening I thought of that...Switched implements, adjusted the knob and then up - down - up - down for about 3 minutes or so..No change. It just seems like the cylinder is filling with fluid too fast. I called my dealer and talked to their mechanic finally. He told me he went and tooled around with a tractor on the lot. A little bumpy he said bet not what I described mine to be doing. Anyways, he is bringing the service truck out this friday to take a look at it. I hope it is not a "Kubota Thing" and is something that can be corrected. I'm still hopeful about this threaded nut thingy is some kind of adjustment....We'll see and I will let you all know Friday evening the results. Thanks to all of you that have been posting suggestions and comments. And BIRD, "You Da Man!!!"

Bird, you DA MAN! Thanks for your input--after your explanation, I now understand how the position control works. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with us tractor newbies!!

On my L1500DT Kubota, I have & adjustment under the front of the seat, it has a S and a F,(slow&fast)that adjusted the jerking out of mine.

On the L3130 - L5030 the Lowering speed adjusting valve under the seat on affects the lowering speed. Don't know about other models.

I'm looking at the shop manual and it appears that adjustable nut controls flow on the lift side. When lifting it opens a path to close the unload poppet. However the oil that goes into the hydraulic cylinder appears to be another path. Its kinda hard to tell exactly.

It also talks about having the correct linkage adjustment(freeplay). The linkage connects to poppet referenced above. The symptom listed in the book is that the implement will hunt up/down if improperly adjusted.

Let us know what the dealer says....tnks.

What did the dealer have to say?

Well, the dealer's mechanic says there is no adjustment. It must be a "Kubota Thing" I still think that nut thinh beside the lowering speed adjustment has to be the key. The only problem is the maintenance manual is still "pending" They don't have it in publication yet. I guess I will just live with it for now. I did a lot of playing this weekend and I am getting better at controlling it. As Bird said, maybe just a matter of getting used to it.
