I am in the market for a subcut to replace my JD755 and my garden tractor and my ztr. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Do any of these subcuts have position control on the 3ph? Last time I checked, a year or so ago, they did not. If not, how would I be able to control the running height of my 4' brush mower? On the 755 if I was to put it all the way down, it would be cutting dirt, not brush.

Thanks,

Don

You can stop the hitch anywhere you want. You do not need to place the hitch in float mode, you just bring the lever back to the neutral spot and the hitch stays there. Not a big deal for a bush-hog.

OK, this is better than what I understood. I thought on say the BX tractors, the 3ph arms were either up all the way, or down as far as the implement would pull them. What you are describing sounds like position control to me. So, on a BX, I could hold an implement part-way up?

The BX arms can be put at any place in their travel range and they will hold there. You pull the lever to raise or lower the 3PH, and you center it to stop movement and it will "lock" in that position.

Just to split hairs, position control is a little different, in that as you move the 3PH lever, the 3PH "follows" the movement of the control lever. On my B2910 there are numbers beside the slot the lever moves in. If I put the lever at "5" which is about midpoint, and find that is where I want the hitch for a given implement, and then if I set the implement on the ground and come back to the tractor later, all I have to do is put the lever back at "5" and the hitch will go right back to the elevation I was at previously, and I don't have to even look at it if I don't want to... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bill,
Good explanation. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

OK, got it. Not as convenient as position control, but not as bad as I thought it was, either. I probably could live with it for as little as I would need it. Thanks guys.

Some people have written here that the lack of position control is not too bad, but one has to pretty much eyeball when the implement is at the right level as it falls and then put the lever back in neutral to hold it there. May take a little extra adjusting to get it where you want it. Position control eliminates that part. John

I spent way to much time agonizing the position control debate when I bought my B7500, that became irrelevant after some use. It really is no big deal.
