30 HP Tractor...Which one????

Cruise Control is also on the B3030. Some dealers will say that B7800 has this. But it is not true. On B3030 speed can be adjusted while tractor is moving both faster and slower. I use this feature when rototilling and bush hogging.
B3030 has a better seat with armrests.
B7800 has chains and turnbuckles for anti sway. B3030 has easy to adjust pin type sway control.
B3030 has ratchet tilt control for 3PH.
B7800 does not have a rear hydraulic outlet like the B3030 has. This can save having to run hydraulic lines from front of tractor.

What are the major differences between the B7800 and the B3030?

In addition to what Bob said, in my mind there is one MAJOR difference. The B7800, like my B2910 has a clutch that stops the rear PTO when pushed in with the left foot.

It is my understanding that the B3030 does not have a foot clutch, but rather a hydraulic clutch that is engaged when the pto lever is moved to the engaged position. Something that sounds similar to what is on my BX2200 and which I am not a big fan of.

Most of the time this may not be a problem, but I do know I would not like this when using my post hole digger. ESPECIALLY if the lever to engage the PTO were on the left, and the 3PH lever were on the right! I like to watch the PHD when I am using and controlling it. I like to stop the PHD from turning, lift it out and start it again to spind the dirt off when cleaning out the hole, and so on. I doubt I could do that if I had to work a lever on each side of the tractor at the same time. The lack of the foot clutch would be enough to steer me away from the B3030 I think.

The B3030 takes the BH75 which should be a better hoe than the 3PH BL4690 I think...if the BH75 proves to be as durable as the BL4690. A current thread has brought up possible BH75 questions regarding cylinder size for stick movement...three successive cylinder rods bent and we are waiting to see how the new BH75 that Kubota gave that poster (in place of the original one) performs.

I used to have a B7800 and the points Bob makes are very good ones. Also the turnbuckles on the lower links are a pain if you switch implements a lot. Next on my list would be the quarter-inching valve vs. position control. I think I could get by without cruise control, but the first 2 items would be important. Basically these are features that are standard on the Grand L series. (BTW There is a B7800 folding ROPs model that comes standard w/mid-PTO, that is what I had)
You can switch out the turnbuckles for telescoping adjusters lower links, but I think you are stuck with the quarter-inching valve. In hindsight I would have gone with the B2910 or it's replacement.

I bought a B3030. I spent the extra money up front. I have bought things thinking I will be satisfied with my purchase. Later, I wish I had spent the extra money on the better one. I will have this tractor for a while, so I should get everything Kubota has to offer in a 30 HP "B" tractor. I am glad, so far, that I did.

I second Bowhunter3030 on this. You should buy the right one right now even if it's a bit more expensive. You'll be glad you did it when you look at it on the long term. I bought a B3030 and I must say that I didn't look at other B series models. I have what Kubota offers the best about B series so there's no reason why I should regret my buy afterward.

Ok, I have to admit that I bought a BX23 last year and I changed it this year. I thought a BX23 was big enough for my needs and it turned out that I spent more money to get the right tractor. So I've learned by experience. Costly but effective.

That's a good question.

On a B3030, it's a BH75 (4 points [subframe] and it's a bit stronger than a backhoe on a B21).
On a B7800, usually it's a BL4690A (mounted on 3PH and not as strong as a BH75).

I don't know if a BH75 subframe could fit on a B7800. IMO a backhoe mounted on a subframe is better than one mounted on a 3PH.

Yes, there's a pic of my B3030 with a MMM
