Tractor
Case IH 1140 (first tractor ever)
I bought one of those King Kutter dirt buckets for a 3 point hitch today. I love it. I got it at Tractor Supply Company. Northern Tools was cheaper for the exact same one. I printed Northern Tool's ad and took it to Tractor Supply Company and showed the lady at the counter and she honored the Northern Tool's price.

This may seem "old fashioned" what with today's FELs, etc, but my father had one that he got in the late '40s that he used to move sand from a creek bottom to the place that he was making concrete for the house that I was raised in...My Grandfather and my Father built it (Granddad was a carpenter). May not sound like much but it was a lot faster than shoveling it out of the creek by hand....we pretty much gave it away at the farm auction when the farm was sold...BobG in VA

Bob, I'm not sure if you were saying you liked dirt buckets or not. Its just not economicaly feasable for us to put a fel on my tractor right now. I looked at a used brush hog and phd yesterday. The guy wants $600 for the pair. I offered $500. He said he's gonna think on it. Its the same guy we bought the tractor from.

It worked fine....just trying to say it works great with loose soil or sand, but I've heard of some folks that tried to do "too much" with one and it bent up...Keep and eye on the cutting edge, if you hit a big enough rock it may want to bend at the point...good luck with it. BobG in VA

Oh, ok. I do realize its not a digger. We did get it to move piles of dirt around when we need it. If the is any digging to be done its because there is a problem of some sort and I usually hire that out to one of the local guys around with a bigger tractor. I was having to hire the dirt moving, brush hogging, post hole digging etc. Gonna have it all covered today. I pulled up a tree stump today with the dirt bucket. We lost several trees to hurricane Ike. I am getting some valuable experiance on the tractor.

I started with a Howse dirt scoop and it lasted one weekend before it bent to a point it was ruined. Took it back and got a KK 30" like this and it has been absolutely great. Be careful with it and it will last many years. Excellent product from KK.
