30' King Kutter Dirt Bucket

I saw that same scoop this weekend at TSC and was impressed at how HD it looked, doesn't kook like it would be easy to bend any part of it. I like the fact that it can be run both ways. and yea definitely gotta be better than shoveling dirt into a wheelbarrow.

I got one of these last month when they were on sale at Farm and Fleet for $315. So far I've used mine to move some loose rock and was happy enough with how it worked. No, it's not an FEL but as others have said it sure beats a shovel.

I have a Ford 706 Dirt scoop That I bought at the local junk yard for $20 spent $30 more fixing up . Sure beats a shovel all to way. Some of us don't have FEL .

I bought a 30" KK Dirt Scoop back when I had my 4100, and it works great for the jobs I have asked it to perform. No complaints here from me. I still got it and I now have a 300CX loader with a 73" bucket.

Could someone sort of elaborate on the multiple uses such an implement as the King Kutter piece would be good for? I have so many projects around here, partly because I just enjoy working around my property, that I want to start accumulating some attachments for my 19hp Bolens G192. All I have so far is a 60" Caroni mower and a Bolens front blade.

When this King Kutter piece is operated by the 3pt, does the bucket part remain level? I'm guessing no, since it sounds like it can be driven into the ground at an angle to dig. But then, if it isn't kept level, won't any dirt inside it fall out?

Elementary questions, I am sure, but I'm just getting used to my tractor and how to use it.

Thanks.

One of the very first projects that I made was a scoop--I call it a KK clone. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/build-yourself/98421-dirt-scoop-3-pt-first.html I did not have dimensions for the KK, but built it according to eyeball of pictures on the net. I have used it for tons of projects.

My first project was to use it to move sand from our parking area to the rear of the property. I have used it to dig sand out for cement, to carry dirt to the places in the yard that the dogs dug holes, to bring home some topsoil that some one dumped, transport bricks and cement chunks from a demolision project, and as a giant dustpan for the the wild pears that fall on our parking area at church.

It is invaluable as a carry-all as well for those of us who do not have FELs. it works simply with a trip mechanism that allows the dirt to dump when it is full, but return to the latched position when it is empty.

They are great to cut small sections of sod with to the thin cutting edge goes right in. they can also dig pretty good in fairly hard soil. Dad bought one for the 3000 Yanmarr I bought from him and it whas been used alot even though we have 2 skid loaders a backhoe and dads Kubota with a loader. Works real good when you have a bit of time and have to haul quite a ways saves on the skid steer use. I ften use mine when Im side dressing my garden plants with compost you can straddle a row and shovel out the back and it already matches my crop spacing.
Bull88 they stay almost parrallel to the ground with a slight downward angle set on the 3 point hitch to get them started. They dig better being pulled like a dirt pan and dont take alot of power to load. But most have a hitch on the back so you can back into a pile and move dirt and mulch and gravel. They can move a alot of dirt if you keep at it, in the old days it wasnt uncommon for them to dig small ponds. I know of about 3 ponds dug with them here by a lowly little 8N Ford.

Thanks for the additional info. I am going to see if I can find a video on Youtube or something. I'm trying to envision opearting the 3pt hydraulics to make the pan dig into the ground, then exit with a full load, but am not sure this is correct. I guess in this case, I am a visual learner.

The pond is interesting, because I do want to dig a modest one this summer!

You just let it down with the 3 point, have the top link set where it may have the cutting edge 1/4 in lower than the rear to make it more aggressive. I just moves about 8 yards of sand with it today at work while it was too wet to run the scraper. Had to make and erosion control berm. Took about 2.5 hours becase the dirt was so far away. they fill up in a hurry in good dirt.for transplanting sod we set the top link wher the bottom is flat with the ground and also have a small set of gauge wheels we made to hold the thing at a set level. Works great they just take a little getting used to. We use one at our landfill alot to haul compost to the landscaping or to fill in small stum holes around the park. Usually we haul a load down to where we are working with the 12 yard scraper and that way we have a close pile to work from. I did a small job last month that was cuttin a drainage ditch in a feild about 200 feet long. was too far to walk the excavator and no roads to haul it down. I just put the scoop on the tractor and went to town.the shope of the scoop made a nice little profiled ditch and the spoill had to be taking away so it was a little 150 trek to a low spot in a berm.
