$300 For 50 hour service on L2501

Like others here, I like to do my own service work. The L2501 is pretty easy to service, even with the stiff factory filters. But the factory filters are IMO very high quality and worth any extra $$. Heavy stiff shells, dust caps or shrink wrap, labeling right on the shells (ie oil, trans, hydraulic), etc. Truth be told, I have not tried to cross reference the filters with any other brand, because I have no interest in hunting down parts that may or may not be inferior. Or spending time collecting these parts from multiple sources. I have a dealer near my house and one near work, so its convenient to pick up factory parts.

Above the forum posts here, I see an Amazon add for a L2501 filter kit with all of the filters by Baldwin, Donaldson, & Sure Filter. These are good brands. The price is at least $45 less than what I've paid. Is it worth it? Maybe. All it takes is one of those filters being incorrect, to cause me to waste a bunch of time though.

I have more time than money plus I fix machinery for a living...I'd do the job myself and rest knowing the job was done right. I trust fewer people than I can count on one hand to do a job and do it right.

Ditto

The labor rate at 4 dealers I use in N. Texas is $140
That is why I try to things myself.

Several of you must not have read the first post very carefully. The op did not get the hydraulic oil changed. It was engine oil changed engine oil filter, fuel filter which was probably a waste and the 2 hydraulic filters. I personally think $300 is pretty high.

Guilty
I did not read it properly.
No hyd fluid or filter would make it high.

I picked up my tractor today and the breakdown is:

Labor 1.6 hours $ 126.40
Filters (Oil, Hydraulic, HST, Fuel, and Air 112.75
6 qts. Engine Oil 29.40
2 qts. Hydraulic Fluid 10.38
Sales tax 12.31

TOTAL $ 291.24

They said they checked the hydraulic pressure and it was actually a little higher than factory specs so they did nothing to change it. I didn't ask if they charged me any labor for that. I checked the part numbers on Messick's website and the filters were to the penny exactly the same as on my bill. All and all I am satisfied. I may do my future services but I will stick with the overpriced Kubota filters. There just ain't enough savings to take chances as far as I'm concerned. THANKS to all for the replies and ya'll have a great day.

Now I have the facts.
I would say it is reasonable and fair.

I just got 5 gallons of it for $22

Dealers best brand name for NH is about $90 for a 5 gallon bucket and gets higher has the size gets smaller.
The question is about if the charge was fair. Not if he did it himself, how much could he save.
