$300 Holy Cow

What I would do is contact Kubota corporate....ask them to make the problem go away. If they refuse, then hit every online forum about tractors and make everyone aware that they're going to get butt-raped if they crack a headlight bezel. In the long run it'll cost Kubota a lot more.

Why call Kubota or blame Kubota? It is not at all their problem IMHO. The OP broke it. Even if it was in still warranty, it is not their fault. MY side mirror cracked on my TC. Not sure how it happened but probably got hit by rock when hauling. $40 for new one. My choice is either pay or leave it - period. Not going to blame Bobcat.

Their "fault" is when they try to kick you when you are down!
It's not honest, and it's not right. In general, just a crappy thing to do..

I put something like that in the same category of charging outrageous prices for inkjet cartridges. They have their customer captive and then charge 1000% more than what it costs to make the part. That's not right. Yea, they can do it if they want, and if I was in that situation, I'd exercise my right to make a big stink about the outrageous markup. I know that when people complain loudly, things change. Just from my research on Kubota, I've heard about numerous things they changed because customers were not happy, including the size of tool boxes and upgrading seats on some models.

I'm not suggesting they can't make good money on parts. I know this is probably the main way these dealerships stay in business, but there's a difference between fair price, an extremely profitable price, and raping the customer. $300 for a headlight lens is in the latter category IMO, unless there's something particularly special about the item.

I would try a "boneyard" for tractors on that lens assembly. Check out used tractor parts on the internet. I've had pretty good luck in the past getting parts like that dirt cheap when I was in automotive. Tractors shouldn't be that much different.

Found this site: wkytp.com (West kentucky tractor parts) Might help.
