First, I'm new to the forum, and to tractors.

After a lot of thought, research, and input from this forum
I'm about to buy a 3040 with the new style FEL.

I'm in TX and called a Montana dealer this afternoon to talk about a purchase, he's a bit of a drive, so I thought I'd call first.

During our talk he brought up that he was also a TAFE dealer, and that he had a similar model that was virtually the same for about $2k less.

I’d appreciate everyone’s collective input, since $2k is a lot of money.
Are they really comparing apples and apples?
Are the Montana and TAFE tractors made by the same company, LG?

I haven’t been able to find any real discussions boards on TAFE tractors similar to this site.

Granted the TAFE doesn’t have the new style FEL, but the one installed on the TAFE has equal load handling caps.

The comparisons were:

Montana 3040 – similar to TAFE 2800 (really a closer match to Montana’s 2740)
Montana 3840 – similar to TAFE 3600CE

Thanks for the help

Don't know much about their small tractors, the utility ag tractors are licensed by Massey Ferguson. Here's the TAFE website. Welcome to TAFE USA
