30B PTO shifting problem

Hi, New here.. Working on a 30B with loader. Its a new Tractor to me... It has new clutch, but now the PTO grinds in with no load and almost will not go in with a load. Engine off will shift in but wont start if there is load on the PTO. with a load you have to jerk it in but that cant be good on things.

Any one know where to begin?

Not sure what a 30B is but is yours a two-stage clutch? Does it slip into gear (drive) with no grinding? Sure sounds like the PTO is not disengaged (but you knew that). Could the new disc be out of adjustment? What have you tried?

I have the sister to your tractor a 20C but yours has inboard brakes in the rear. The tractor has a two stage clutch. The symptoms your describing indicate that the clutch is going out or it is out of adjustment. The engine will not start because the pto clutch is not entirely disengaging causing a drag on the engine.
I would first see if it is out of adjustment. Under the tractor there is an inspection cover for the PTO. Pull it off and adjust the bolts to .090" as shown in this photo.

If that does not work then you will need the clutch replaced. I hope you do not have a loader on your tractor.
