...Keep in mind that the metal roofing has ribs on 12" centers and spaced 24" apart. You are going to have 12 screws per 2x4 purlin and 10 purlins which would give you 120 screws per 10' bay. 50 year warranty says it will work !!!

The design of the metal roof panels when fully installed equally distributes the dead load over the supporting members...

Thanks for explaning it in simpler terms than I did !!

Guys in the aircraft industry know that when you rivet the skin onto the many stringers and frames the assembly becomes much stiffer than the individual pieces were. Seems like the same concept here.

I wonder why all truss rafter buildings aren't built with 10ft span using 2x4 purlins? Definitely cheaper!!!

Couple things to think about I would have done differently. I would have buried pvc pipe one side to the other to pull water, air, alarm wire or electric through.
Wire then insulate and walls, (osb would be fine) before moving anything in. Once moving stuff in it's a nightmare working around. One good thing is I buried a barrel outside and everything goes through it, so water & propane main cutoff is there, it has a cast iron cover.

Honestly I don't think the same LRFD or ASD principles that apply to building structures are the same used for airframes...

I plan on running that pvc from side to side under the floor...thanks for the tip ! Easier than trying to run wire up a 16' wall then across 30'. Don't plan on insulating, maybe put in a wood stove for those cold days I need to work in.

Its the same concept just different materials. You have to be sure the trusses are constructed correctly. Thats the key factor...these trusses are over built, which allows using a 2x4 purlin.

Not sure what you mean. But building houses you have to add the weight of the plywood decking, shingles etc. and drywall, etc.

I should have been more specific. I wonder why all pole buildings aren't built with 10ft span using 2x4 purlins?

I hope your building is straight for generations to enjoy.
