Yes, engaging the diff lock while your tires are spinning is just asking for a failure. I agree.

Well then, let me help you help your dealer get this fixed right. The 3215 is a wonderful tractor.

There are three issues that affect the diff lock prematurely failing. One is the adjustment, some of them just don't engage the cogs fully. The pedal pushes down on a lever and it just doesn't push far enough. A little piece of metal tacked onto the lever takes care of that. Secondly, operator error as some guys apply the diff lock while the wheels are still spinning. That is hard on things. Thirdly, the front axles on these 32/3315's do not pivot as far as they should, so you end up needing the diff lock way too often as when the front axle reaches it's pivot stop it lifts the rear tire and you spin. For years now we have "adjusted" the pivot stop on all the 32/33 16's before they go out and we have seen no diff lock failures on any tractors that we have so modified.

Mahindra is aware and has made Mitsu aware. Your dealer can call Mahindra and talk to the service folks to make sure he fully understands the procedure.

You will note that there really is no adjustment to the pivot stop. The cast block on the front axle is too tall and must be shortened by about 1/4". I won't outline the procedure here since I don't want to feel bad if someone does it wrong and cuts a power-steering hose or messes something up. Talk to your dealer.

I don't know if you read my post on the previous page. My dealer has gone out of business. The next nearest one is an hour and a half away. Should this dealer be able to work on my tractor under warranty? And will they cover pickup and drop off? Thanks,
Patrick

The dealer should be able to do the warranty work, but the answer is not on the pickup & delivery. Did you ever recieve the adjustment instructions I emailed or at least tried to email them?

Dealers do not get reimbursed by the manufacturer for pick-up, drop-off, or field service calls. If a dealer does that for you for free, just keep in mind that it is at their expense, and the expenses associated with hauling are more than you might think. The dealer that is 90 minutes away will have to charge you for pickup and delivery, but I am sure he will work on your tractor. It's no big deal to haul a little tractor, get a buddy with a car trailer and haul it yourself if you want to save some $$.

My local dealer stated they don't get paid by Mahindra for diagnosing warranty work and charges $35. They also stated to me they won't do any warranty for Mahindra's unless you purchase from them.

You are responsible for bringing it to the dealer and you are also responsible for letting Mahindra know if a "Mahindra" dealer wont' honor warranty work. I understand not being put "first" if they have local purchasers with issues too.

I think most of us dealers will honor warranty, on tractors that we didn't sell, with the professionalism your warranty deserves. You may not recieve the free extras that some of us dealers throw in for our customers, like pickup and delivery, but all else should be the same as any other customer.
I look at a professionally handled warranty as a possibility to pickup a new customer.

Nice to hear a dealer with your attitude.

I agree Buck. I keep trying to get him to be "my dealer". Something about the 8-900 miles that separates Indiana from New York I guess....
Galen has helped me on many occasions. And yes I did get the email, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, thanks. I haven't had an opportunity to really get down and try to adjust things.
Thanks everyone,
Patrick

Most dealers will work on tractors purchased anywhere. Occasionally there is a customer that works one dealer against another and stirs things up in an effort to save $100 on a tractor purchase, then comes into the dealer he did not buy from and demands to be put to the front of the list for warranty, get free delivery/pick-up etc. As long as you aren't one of those guys, most dealers appreciate the business.
