No. None of the L's are at Tier 4. Its Tier 3.

From reply of Kubota above, looks like they are. I am pretty sure mine is T4i. Will have to double check. Philip.

I do believe my engine is the interim Tier IV, I think all the GLs have the interim IV standards. I have heard it called Tier III, stage III B, and a few other names because the 25 to 75 HP engines never had a real Tier III standard. They just skipped from II to interim IV. At the end of next year they will be true Tier IV. At least this is what I've been told.

Here's what Schwermetall posted last year when discussing the differences. He got a good explanation directly from Kubota. The only thing Kubota missed was the new decals that PHILIP8N pointed out...

"Response from Kubota regarding the difference of the -1,-2 and -3 models. BTW they responded pretty quick, another sign of a great company.

Your Original Inquiry:

What is the difference between the -1,-2, and -3 models of the L4240hst and
also what is the height with the ROPS folded and AG tires and R4 tires?"

I have a l5740HST-1 and it has stall guard plus so I am not exactly sure how one tells the difference. I don't have the pto button or swivel seat but do have SG plus.

I also have a I tier 4 engine.

I could be wrong but the explanation I remember hearing is that the -3 revision added PTO monitoring to Stall Guard. Prior to that it was only engine speed varying the HST transmission output. Not sure how it works or what the added benefit is other than being another indicator of engine load for the computer to use in making its decision to cut transmission output under heavy load.

I can confirm from the emissions label on my L5740 engine that it meets Tier 4 interim. As someone mentioned, in the 50 - 100 HP range, Tier 4 interim is the same as Tier 3 and was effective in 2008. Tier 4 final my tractor size falls into a 50 - 75 HP range and is effective 2013. The difference then is it cleans up soot by 90% so I think that means they will have a particulate trap of some kind.

Beside the swivel seat (which I love - that little bit of swivel is a lot easier on my arthritic neck) and the button PTO, isn't there also a minor engine change to make them Tier 4 interim capable? The old literature I have when the 40 series came out doesn't talk about meeting Tier 4 but the literature I got when I finally pulled the trigger on my L5740 says it meets Tier 4 interim. Not a big deal since meeting Tier 4 interim on engines less than 75 HP seems to be only a minor change, if any.

I agree, & I'm 42 years old with a fine back  but the little bit of swivel is quite nice for times when you're looking backwards a lot, like when using an auger, backing a bush hog into areas, etc.

No. None of the L's are at Tier 4. Its Tier 3.

Here is a photo of the sticker from the engine valve cover on my 2009 L3940-1. It states clearly an interm tier 4 engine. Philip.

I think interim tier 4 is some times referred to as tier 3.

No, that is not correct. There are clear distinctions for tier 2, tier 3, tier 4 intermin, and tier 4 final. This chart should clear it up for you. Philip.

US EPA Nonroad Tier Chart 2004-2017

Not sure but I don't see any tier 3 below the 75hp category which I believe was the category being asked about.
