I noticed that my JD switches were rated at 20A which is a pretty good load. But a relay may still be a great idea.
Wire size can really be an issue, As voltage goes down, wire size gets crucial. That is one reason there is a switch to 42V going on in the automotive industry. Low voltage motors are the other biggy.
On TEN series tractors the install is pretty much the same, but there are no blanks to remove. Instead they had an outline of the cutout, and a dremel tool is used to cut the opening.
