Hello,
I am new at this as well as a new owner of a John Deer 3320 with a 447 backhoe. When I purchased this I wanted the 448 backhoe and the dealer told me he did not recomend the 448 for the 3320 and told me it would be too much hoe for the machine. I now have 19 hours on the machine and really like it, I chose the 3320 over the 3120 for the extra hp. This is my first tractor so I do not have anything to compare it to and would love to hear from some other 3320 owners, or for that matter from any of you on what your thoughts are on the 3320. I really enjoy this site and have learned lots from all of you. I also looked at the Kubota 3130 prior to my purchase and would like to know if you think i made the wright purchase. Thank you for your time !

Maby I did not enough information about my new purchase, it also has the 300 cx loader with a heavy duty 73 inch bucket and a cutting edge, loaded r4 tires, plug in engine heater, also purchased a landpride 7 foot landscape rake with a fold down grader blade and guide wheels. I plan on using the rake/blade combo to keep my camp road in tip top shape.

Congratulations on your new tractor. It seems like a nice setup.

It's interesting that your dealer recommended the 447. I'm waiting on a 72mmm to come in, to take delivery on my 3720 with 448. I spoke to one dealer and he said he'd recommend the 447 also for the 3020 series. He felt the 448 should go on the 4020 series.
The dealer I'm buying from said the 448 would be fine on the 3020 series. My thinking is, "If Deere thought the 448 was too big then they wouldn't offer it for the 3020 series". I could be wrong, we'll have to wait and see. For the small price difference, I'm going with the 448.

If you can, post some pics of your new tractor, and welcome to TBN.

I just purchased a 3320 and 447 BH (2 weeks). This is my first tractor.

I also considered the 448, but did not need the additional depth. I'm sure the 448 is also more powerful than the 447, I'm comfortable with my choice. I can easily move the 3320 with the 447, therefore I subsequently concluded that the 448 would be too much for the 3320. I have already dug out 4 large stumps and a number of large rocks with the 447.

I'm very happy thus far with the 3320 and 447 combination.

Congrats on your purchase!

Dealers usually try their best to keep things in balance.

I have a 47 hoe (the forerunner uf the 447...) It is great. The only real problem that I have is upgradeability. If IU want to buy any of the new machines I have to get a new hoe. The 47 doesn't work with any of them. A 447 can work with the 3020s but not the 4020s.

But if I trade I should be able to sell mine as a package and buy a new package, so this isn't the end...

I am curious as well why your JD dealer suggested the 447. I have a 3320 with a 448 on it and I love it. I don't have to run it more than 1500 and does everything than I needed so far. When I inquired about the 3xxx series they said the 448 could fit any model. I now have 22 hours on my unit and am completely satisfied. The hoe has popped rocks that barely fit in the 300cx loader and also has popped up stumps with no problem.
