Killer B, I ran it straight for 3 hours but only put 2 hrs. on the tac at an average of about 1500 rpm. So it all depends on rpm.

This confirms my suspicion. It also means that a Deere 600 hours may only have worked as much as a Kub with 400 hours showing on the clock.

This really should be standardized.

On many older tractors, and some new ones, the hour meter is gear driven from the tachometer and synchronized to run at whatever engine speed equates to 540 RPM at the PTO.

So one hour at 540 RPM PTO speed will register one hour, but if the tractor is run at a reduced RPM then the hour meter will run slow also.

I am not sure how the new Deere's work with all that electronic stuff, But I think your is a true hour meter.

I remember reading in the Kub forum about someone who had a BX, and his son turned the key on when no one was around...He was asking how to erase the extra 30 or so hours

Maybe the Deere is smart enough to not run unless the engine is actually running?
