Yesterday the shift lever starting getting really hard to shift between gears. I took the tans top cover off and can feel the binding in the arm that goes into the top cover.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Any pointers on what to look for?

Thanks

I really don't know anything about it but am curious. I looked at the parts drawings and see different shift arrangements. Do you have the column or floor shifter and are you talking about the range shifter or power shifter? Seems to be even different range shifters? Do you have the parts or service manual?

I have the column shift. I say Power shift ,not that I know, the shift lever that has a neutral, reverse, and 1-3rd and you can shift without shifting the transmission. I have a parts and service manual. Just checking with the guys here before I screw something up.

Thanks

I have been working out of town so have not messed with it.
Thanks

I had a 4220D with powershift and never had a problem with stiff shifting. Good luck with finding a problem.

I think in principle after the shifter goes inside the transmission case, it just moves some hydraulic valves similar to loader valves. So it seems to me any binding is likely to be where the shifter comes out of the top cover, or somewhere exterior to that.
